We have a special treat in store for you today, with our Guest Blogger, Susan Opel. If you’re lucky enough to meet Susan someday, you won’t soon forget her: she’s got a heart as big as her fun-loving personality! We are so lucky that Susan could take some time away from her busy duties as the Creative Editor at Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine to create something as colorful and creative as she is.
Susan’s Notes: To me, Easter is one of the most important days of the year, not for the bunny or the chocolate, but for the resurrection of Jesus! When making religious cards, I always do my best to make them fresh and trendy rather than heavy and serious. This age-old story is still relevant today.
To capture the joy of Easter, I used lively spring colors and added chevrons, sequins, and gold to make it current. The simple font choice from the book of Matthew paired with the cross make the perfect focal point, thanks to the
Easter Blessings stamp set from Taylored Expressions! And I love how the chevron die is pointing to the sentiment.
Supplies:
Easter Blessings stamp set (Taylored Expressions);
Chevron Cutting Plate (Taylored Expressions); Other: cardstock, patterned paper, ink, label die, trim, ribbon, dots
About Susan: After receiving a BA in English from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI, Susan taught English to students in Illinois, Nevada, and Indiana. After sixteen years of teaching, she decided to pursue a career that involved her hobby of scrapbooking, and is now the Creative Editor at Paper Crafts & Scrapbook magazine. When away from the office, Susan enjoys card making, spending time with family, and hitting the open road. Her biggest quirk is that she organizes her closet in color order (including matching colored hangers). Crazy, yes, but REALLY pretty!
