Blog Design Team: Home of the Brave
TGIF! It’s been a full week here in the TE offices and we are all looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend! We are all big fans of celebrating the 4th of July and we wanted to share some patriotic inspiration for Blog Design Team member, Wanda Guess, using an unusual combination of colors. Enjoy!
Wanda’s Notes: The Stars & Stripes stamp and matching die is one of my all time favorite products
from Taylor. This card takes a different twist by using yellow and blue
instead of red, white and blue. I think it seems a bit more masculine.
This would be a perfect card for a favorite service member or Veteran.
Wanda’s Notes: I
used the gorgeous Ray of Sunshine Cutting Plate to make my own stencil
template. I simply cut the plate out with vellum and adhered it to my
card front. Then I used Distress Inks and a dauber to ink the yellow
rays coming out from under the silhouette of the United States. Easy to do this technique with
any of our Cutting Plates! I cut the USA silhouette die from cream paper and edged
it with Linen Distress ink.
Wanda’s Notes: Another tip I want to share with you
is to use your larger word or sentiment stamps in pieces. Here’s what I
mean. The words on this card all came from the same large stamp (Patriotic Prose – Brave)! First, I
blocked off part of the stamp with washi tape, and used black ink on
the stamp. Then I gently peeled off the washi tape and stamped the ‘land
of the free’ part of the stamp! Next I cleaned my stamp, and blocked
off the other part of it with washi tape…repeated the steps and
stamped ‘home of the brave.” I hope you will try this! Lots of times I
combine three or four sentiments on one card by just using parts of each
one.
Thanks for joining us today for some Fourth of July fun from Wanda!
