TE Blog Team: Watercolor Roses
Are you enjoying summer? This week is flying by and we’ve been looking forward to relaxing this weekend and maybe getting crafty, too! Today we have TE Blog Team member Wanda Guess with a gorgeous card and a water color technique that we hope will inspire you to create something beautiful, too!
Wanda’s Notes: Watercolor is all the rage right now, and I thought I would make a nice watercolor card to share today! This card has a fun and ‘artsy’ flair to it in some bright Summer colors.
Wanda’s Notes: I started by creating some uneven stripes with some distress inks and a wet brush onto watercolor paper. This is really fun – don’t try to be too perfect with it – let it flow! I’m already thinking of more ideas for some stripes!
Wanda’s Notes: The flowers are from the beautiful Rosy Posey stamp set, which has matching dies. I stamped my flowers on watercolor paper also. Then I used Distress Inks again with my wet brush to color them in. The trick with this technique is to leave lots of white space in your coloring and to not go all the way to the lines. It gives a handmade look.
The whole card comes together with a sweet sentiment on a white label. You’ll see that my flowers, leaves and sentiment are all popped off the page with foam squares. I hope you will try this and let your inner artist come out to play!
We hope you have a wonderful, gorgeous day! Wanda will be joining us later this month, but in the meantime, you can catch her on her blog, A Blog Called Wanda.
