Taylor’s Expressions: Happy Halloween
Hey there, crafty friends! It’s hard to believe Halloween is almost here! Our week is filled with Halloween parties at daycare and preschool, trunk or treat (where the kids trick or treat from trunk to trunk in a parking lot), all leading up to a spooktacular night of trick-or-treating on Halloween! My mom made Madelyn the most adorable Anna (from Frozen) costume. She’s been asking me if she can wear it to preschool every day for the last two weeks! Our little Charlotte will be dressed as an owl (hoot-hoot).
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love creating special treat bags for the girls and I think I have a mild addiction to candy! I’ll admit it… I’ve already purchased, opened, and eaten one whole bag of candy. It doesn’t take much to please me… gummy, fruity, chocolate, chewy… I love it all!
I made this Halloween card for Madi’s daycare provider and I wanted to share it with all of you before Halloween comes and goes!
I started by cutting strips from several patterns in our Hocus Pocus paper pack (this is a great way to use up those scraps that we all have laying around!).
The layout was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest so I started by arranging the strips of paper in the ‘V’ pattern.
1. Arrange your paper strips before adhering them. There’s nothing worse than adhering everything together and then finding out that it’s “off”! All of my strips are 5/8″ wide except the pumpkin pattern at the bottom right which is 3/4″. I remember when I laid it out (before adhering of course!) my “V” wasn’t quite where I wanted it to be so I fudged the measurement on that one strip.
2. Give your die cuts more interest by cutting them out of multiple colors and piecing the design together as I did with the black spider.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween! I’d love to hear what you and/or your kids are dressing up as for Halloween. I’m already thinking about this costume for Charlotte next year! So adorable, right!?
