One of my favorite parts of November is Thanksgiving, but more specifically Thanksgiving dinner (mmm… sweet potatoes!). I love gathering around the table with friends and family, celebrating traditions, and giving thanks for our many blessings. I do love to cook, but I love to craft even more so it makes sense that I have the most fun planning the table setting for Thanksgiving dinner. Here’s what I came up with for this year using the Take Your Place die with the coordinating Set the Season stamp set and the Napkin Ring die:
I cut the napkin rings out of our new 100 lb. premium card stock in Mulled Wine, Dijon, and Sweet Basil. I’m loving these colors for fall!
The inner portion of the Napkin Ring pops out of the napkin ring itself for added dimension. We also included an additional die that can be layered over the top. I cut the layer from Buttercream Frosting card stock and stamped the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment from the We Give Thanks stamp set. The little acorn is from the Tag-A-Long Autumn stamp set and die cut with the coordinating die.
My coordinating place cards for Thanksgiving dinner were made simple with the Take Your Place die and Set the Season stamp set:
I cut out the place card from Chocolate Truffle card stock and embossed it with the Burlap Embossing Folder. Have I mentioned yet how much I love this design? Who knew there could be so much beautiful texture built into one plastic folder!?
I stamped a strip of paper with the wheat border from Set the Season and colored it with Copics. I separated the top and bottom with the dainty scalloped border from Skinny Mini Borders.
The piece with the names written on it is from the Napkin Ring die and fit perfectly into the popped up portion of the place card. To finish it off I used a few leaves from the previously released Mini Leaves die set.
For my next project I decided to try a watercolor technique with the gorgeous Scattered Leaves embossing folder and then paired it with the In & Out Thanks stamp set.
To create the watercolor effect on the background I first put ink directly on raised portion of the embossing folder design. I used the smaller Memento Dew Drops to apply the ink so I would have more control. I used Rhubarb Stalk, Bamboo Leaves, Potter’s Clay, and Cantaloupe. I also made sure to dab a little ink in between the raised leaves. Here’s what my embossing folder looked like after I inked it:
The next step is to spritz the embossing folder with water. I spritzed generously because I wanted the ink to really blend together. However, make sure you have your embossing folder on a flat surface (or holding it flat in your hand) while you’re spritzing. Otherwise your ink/water will run off the embossing folder and ruin the pretty colors! Here’s what my embossing folder looked like after I spritzed it with water:
Place watercolor paper over the inked/spritzed portion of the embossing folder and run it through your machine. After pulling it out of the machine I spritzed more water directly onto the watercolor paper so the colors would move even more. I also added highlights to the leaf veins with Copic markers.
Then to finish it off I cut leaves from Mulled Wine, Dijon, and Sweet Basil card stock and tied them up with some burlap twine. The sentiment is from the In & Out Thanks stamp set. I know this one will be a go-to set for me with so many thank you options!
