Blog Design Team: Silhouette Florals
We hope your week has gotten off to a great start, crafty friends! Today, Blog Team Designer Julia Stainton gets us thinking a bit about new beginnings with a lovely springtime card that will have you pining for blooms and fresh florals!
To get you through the winter, we’re giving away some TE Felt! Keep reading for details…
Julia’s Notes: I love creating for the holidays but one of my favorite go-to projects
is a floral note card. They are great to have on hand and work for most
occasions.
Julia’s Notes: Today’s design uses a die in two different ways. I’ve
used the Silhouette Stems 1 die to a) die cut felt and b) create a mask
to ink the background.
Julia’s Notes: To create that background I’ve simply die-cut the
floral silhouette from a scrap of white cardstock and then used the
NEGATIVE portion of the cardstock as a stencil or mask.
Julia’s Notes: The ink is
sponged onto the patterned paper layer to create a nice muted shadow of
the felt die-cut. To create the textured Toffee (kraft) layer, I ran the
Circles Cutting Plate through my die-cutting machine WITHOUT using a metal
shim. This gives it a little less pressure so that the design is not cut
all the way through.
Julia’s Notes: Finish off the design with embellishments and you
have a lovely card just waiting to be shared with a friend.
Be sure to check out Julia’s blog, Belle Papier to see more of her lovely projects. Tune in tomorrow as Blog Design Team member Lea Lawson gets us into the New Year’s party mood with a terrific hostess project!
