Blog Design Team: Thanks SNOW Much!
The TE Team is in sunny Anaheim, CA this weekend (yay, for warm weather!) but we are thinking of all our crafty friends shivering in the snow. To make things cozy, we’re sharing a beautiful project from Blog Team designer, Kay Miller, to take your mind of the icicles and to encourage you to stay warm!
Kay’s Notes: Now that Christmas is over most of us have lots of thank you notes to
write for all of those wonderful gifts we received during the holidays.
Since January and February are still cold months where I live, I love
to continue using my winter and snow stamps and dies. I decided to
create a little thank you card using the sweet little winter scene from
Baby, It’s Cold Outside stamp set and Make a Snowflake dies.
Kay’s Notes: I used an A2 size card base with a top fold. I cut a piece of
watercolor paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, the exact size of the front of the card
and stamped the winter scene, embossed it with white embossing powder,
and watercolored it. I glued this panel down flat to my card base.
Kay’s Notes: Next, I
cut a piece of Salt Water Taffy card stock the same height as the card,
5 1/2, but only 4 inches wide, so that a little of the white edge would
show on either side.
Kay’s Notes: I then cut a hole out of the center, creating a
little window for my winter scene. I stamped the “Thanks snow much”
sentiment and then mounted this to my watercolored piece with foam tape.
Kay’s Notes: Lastly I added the die cut Swirl and the snowflake with foam tape as
well. If you have a lot of thank you cards to make and want to speed up
the process a little, you could always just stamp the scene in a color
and skip the watercoloring. I think that would make a lovely card too!
Thank you so much, Kay, for sharing something so beautiful with us today. You can view more of Kay’s lovely design work on her blog, My Joyful Moments. Have a wonderful (and safe) weekend!
