Blog Design Team: ‘White on White’ Winter
Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! We know a lot of you are still buried deep in snow or shivering your way through the day. To help get you through it, we’ve got a wonderful project from the very talented Lea Lawson. She shows you how much fun a ‘white on white’ card can be (and it’s so apropos if you’ve got snow outside your window!)
Plus, to help you keep your craft on, we’re giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to the TE Store! Keep reading for details…
Lea’s Notes: There is nothing quite as beautiful to me as a wintry card with layers
upon layers of white. It is one of my favorite techniques. The trick
to making each layer stand out is effectively adding some texture and
dimension, and I think a splash of another color always helps too!
Lea’s Notes: I
started out by cutting an A2 card from Sugar Cube cardstock. I then
cut another block of the same cardstock, just slightly smaller. I dry
embossed it using the Snowfall Embossing Folder, then adhered it to the
card base. Then I added a messy knot of gold thread to the middle of
the card. (Don’t be afraid to ‘mess’ things up a little!)
Lea’s Notes: I die-cut the tag from matching cardstock using the
bottom half of the Bottled Up die, then stamped the sentiment using the From My Window stamp set to the upper left corner. I adhered the
stamped tag to the top of the gold thread using dimensional glue dots.
Lea’s Notes: To
finish the card, and to add a little bit of color, I die-cut the Birch
Tree Accessories stag die from shiny gold paper and adhered it to the
top of the tag. I love the clean and simple nature of this card, with
the little punch of gold.
Lea’s Notes: Winter themed cards are a great way
to send a little love and warmth to your family and friends during
this long, cold season. The next time you break out your Taylored
Expressions goodies, be sure to try a white on white card….I think you
will love the outcome!
Thanks for keeping us in the crafty spirit despite the cold, Lea! You can catch more of Lea’s design work on her blog, Lea Lawson Creates.
