Taylor’s Expressions: Punny Love Valentine Treat Bags
Hey there, crafty friends! Every year I set a goal to complete Valentine treats anytime before the ‘day before Valentine’s Day’ and yet every year I find myself in my studio on February 13th. Well, this year I’m proud to say my girls’ Valentine treats are complete and it’s not even February yet! I can’t wait to share them with you in hopes that you’ll be inspired to create something special for your coworkers, friends, and family!
I started with paper bags that I found at our local dollar store (Dollar Tree in case you have one near you). They came in a pack of three for a $1 and they’re large enough to hold lots of treats. They came in several cute prints, but of course I couldn’t leave them plain.
I was inspired by the cute scene that Kim created recently on this card and I decided to use the 3×4 Part of my Heart die to house my Little Bits scenes. I cut out several in both Strawberry Milkshake and Sugar Cube cardstock and then reversed the heart and the inner portion so each die cut was a mix of pink and white.
I hand cut the green grass using a polka dot patterned paper from the Rainbow Brights 6×6 Paper Pack. The fox was cut out using Sugar Cube and Pumpkin cardstock. I’ll admit, I added the nose with a marker instead of die cutting since I was making a bunch of these. To finish it off I stamped the sentiment from Punny Love in the bottom corner.
I followed the same basic steps for the ‘bee bag’. The yellow polka dot pattern of the bee’s body is also from the Rainbow Brights 6×6 Paper Pack and the sentiment from Punny Love as well.
And last but not least, the pretty fawn. I cut her from Toffee Crunch cardstock. I cut the eye from Sugar Cube, adhered it to the fawn, and colored the front portion with black marker.
The bags came with some really horrible satin bows on them (that didn’t match) so I ripped them off and replaced them with a die cut bow from Mix & Match Bows and a Doodlebug Sprinkle in the middle.
I must say the best part of this whole process was having Madi help me put all the treats inside each bag! She had a big smile on her face as she dropped chocolate hearts, fruit snacks, tattoos, and more inside. The only disappointment for her is that she has to wait before she can give them to her friends!
So what are you planning to do for your Valentine treats this year? I’d love to hear about it! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
