Blog Design Team: Love’s Not Just for V-Day
Hey there, crafty friends! Well, the chocolate has been eaten, the baubles exclaimed over, the roses have bloomed, and Valentine’s Day 2015 is over! However, today the very talented Lea Lawson shows that it’s always the right time to send someone a card filled with all the love in your heart. Read on for all the details…
Lea’s Notes: Valentine’s Day is over, but that has never kept me from creating love
themed cards throughout the year. Actually, I make more love cards
than any other type! For today’s card, I wanted to create more of an
“every day” love card that you could give to anyone at anytime.
Lea’s Notes: I
started by picking out a soft floral paper, and a woodgrain paper with
the days of the week printed on it, trimming them slightly smaller than
an A2 card. I used the Hearts A Flutter Cutting Plate on the
woodgrain paper, and made sure it stayed taped together after cutting
it. Note: The cutting plate does not cut out the large heart (it may be die-cut using TE’s Heart Stacklets) — I love that I can create so many different looks with one cutting plate! I wanted the patterned paper to be more substantial on this card, so I just lightly traced them in pencil and fussy cut with a hobby knife and precision tip scissors to create a frame.
Lea’s Notes: The Hearts A Flutter Cutting Plate also comes with a couple of
sentiment dies, and I die-cut the “love you” sentiment from the lower right
corner of the floral paper. After giving some of the hearts dimension, I
adhered the two paper layers together.
Lea’s Notes: After making an A2 card
from Sugar Cube cardstock, I added a strip of gold glitter paper to the
lower right corner. I adhered the patterned paper block to the top of
it using foam adhesive to give the sentiment a little extra dimension and shadows. Then I embellished around the heart with enamel dots to
finish.
Lea’s Notes: I’ve recently moved away from my hometown, and I try
to send love notes to family & friends whenever I find myself
missing them a lot. So, I try to keep love themed cards on hand that
can be sent at anytime of the year, to anyone who might be on my mind!
The Hearts A Flutter Cutting Plate is a perfect tool for creating cards
like this, and I am so happy I have it in my stash! Thanks for checking out my card today, and have a wonderful
rest of your Wednesday!!
