Blog Design Team: “Water” Balloon Wonder
Today Blog Design Team member Amy Kolling is sharing a darling birthday card using the trendy ‘smooshed’ technique that is sweeping the paper-crafting world. We can’t wait to show it off!
Now, let’s hear from Amy about her project…
Birthday cards are always something I need “at the last minute” and
being a cardmaker, I cannot justify buying one! Please tell me this
happens to someone else!? When this happens, I need a quick and easy
card to make. I call it: CAS, with a little extra.
The little
extra on this card comes in the way of one Distress Ink ‘smooshed’
background. When I have my supplies out and am making some backgrounds,
I make several in different color combinations. These come in so handy
when you need one and don’t want to get all inky!
I started with a Sugar Cube cardstock panel and diecut the Up, Up, & Away Cutting Plate.
Using the balloon dies that are included with the plate, I die-cut 4 balloons out of one of my ‘smooshed’ Distress
Inked panels I had on hand. (To create a ‘smooshed’ ink panel, simply press (smoosh) distress ink pads on a craft sheet, add water, and gently press watercolor paper into the color.)
Then I used this same smooshed panel and
die-cut tiny stars (using theStarry Night Cutting Plate). My ‘watercolor’
balloons were adhered and the tiny stars were randomly attached over the
entire panel. The sentiment (from In & Out Birthday) was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.
Thanks so much, Amy, for this quick and beautiful card! You can catch more of Amy’s design work on her blog, Stamp-n-Paradise. Happy weekend!
