Plus! Our friends at Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine are celebrating 100 Days of Summer and have generously offered one of our readers a copy of the latest issue of this fabulous magazine! Now let’s hear from Sharon about her layout…
My family loves tropical island/beach destination vacations and last month we had
the opportunity to visit a few! Here is one of my favorite photos from that
trip, on this fun, colorful flip flop 11″ x 8.50″ page. Anyone who knows me well knows I LOVE my flip flops and wear them
everywhere (as long as it is above about 50 degrees!) So it’s no wonder I HAD to have this fabulous, huge
new Flip Flop Garland die set!
With four sizes of flip flops in this die set and the largest measuring 5-1/8” long x 2-1/4” wide, it was a good size to die cut my
focal photo. It would also make a great shaped card or invitation, too! After
positioning my photo, I die cut lots of flip flops out of lots of patterned paper, mixed them up, and adhered them around
the photo on an 8-1/2” x 11” piece of Sugar Cube cardstock. The
thong parts are popped up on foam tape to give them realistic dimension. The awesome Big Bold Summer “tan lines fade” sentiment (which I adore!) was
gold heat embossed and the flip flop to the left of it placed in the opposite
direction than the others, to help draw attention and point to the sentiment. That thong
was die-cut from gold heat embossed paper, so it would match the sentiment.Next, words from Pockets & Pages-July Script were die
cut from Gold Metallic Cardstock and scattered between the flip
flops. Some negative pieces of die cut words that look like splashed water droplets were
added around the lower “surf” word.Lastly, some doodling around the photo and a little journaling was done with
a gold glitter pen.
Thank you, Sharon for sharing this fabulous, summertime layout with us! Please visit Sharon on her blog, PaperFections, for more of her wonderful work.
