Blog Design Team: Fine Feathers
Happy weekend, crafty friends! Today, Blog Team Designer Lisa Henke has created a beautifully textured thank you card for us today and we can’t wait to share it with you.
And now, here’s Lisa to tell us all about her project…
Gosh how I love texture on a card. I love that you can achieve
texture with so many different products. I really love how easy you can
add great texture to any card with an embossing folder. I used the Ikat Embossing Folder and with fall coming, and cooler temps on their
way in the midwest, this panel reminds me of a warm wool sweater. I used
a distressing tool along the edges to add a little distressed look.
The ikat background was a fabulous way to show off some uber cool dies.
Yes, no stamping on this card!
I pulled a fall color combo with Pumpkin card stock, a dark teal textured cardstock, and some brown. I used the Fine Feathers die to cut a stack of feathers and decided to add another element of texture with a few silver, glittery feathers.
I dig a great die-cut, scripty word to my cards. The Shades of Thanks die
included this awespme “thanks”. I cut 3 of them so I could really make
it stand tall on the card front. It’s hard to put little bits of
dimensional tape behind such a delicate, tiny words. Gluing at least 3
of them together is an easy way to give it dimension. I grounded the
word with a pretty twine bow. Yep, another element of texture! After
I had the card adhered together, I stepped back and gave it a final
look. It was missing something, and that’s when I decided I needed to
balance out the colors. the Branches from the Shades of Thanks die make great twigs when they are cut apart from the tree image. I cut a few and tucked them in between my Fine Feathers.
Thank you for sharing this wonderfully embossed card with us today! You can find more of Lisa’s beautiful work on her blog, My Little Creative Escape. Have a joyful day!
