Blog Design Team: An Apple a Day
Today Blog Design Team member Amy Kolling is sharing a perfectly die-cut card that is earning tons of extra-credit for perseverance and patience. And the results are fantastic! Check it out below…
Now, let’s hear from Amy about her project…
Hello friends! Most kiddos have made it back to school and are settling in, so now is a great time to make up some “teacher” cards to have on hand. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to scramble for this type of card at the last minute because I am usually scrambling to figure out a gift!
I started with a white panel of cardstock and a die-cut Pockets & Pages 3/4 Circle Die. I used this die-cut to trace with a pencil its outline so I could determine where I was placing all my mini apples. Next up — die-cutting all the tiny apples and stems from Little Bits Fruit. I enjoyed die-cutting and assembling all the apples for my background. (I’ll admit it: I might have been a little crazy. But, I just love the results!)
After adhering all my apples, I added my Pockets & Pages die-cut with foam adhesive over my apple panel. I wanted dimension to show off my “shadowbox” type look. I stamped my sentiment from Shining Star Sentiments with black Versafine onto a die-cut circle. This was added to my Pockets & Pages die-cut with foam adhesive as well. I added a few red sequins from the Summer Nights Sequin Collection to the sides and embellished them with silver Kaisercraft Rhinestones.
To keep the look of this card simple, I mounted my apple panel slightly angled onto a Toffee panel that I rounded corners with my Corner Chomper. I love how this card turned out, and I just know the teacher that receives this will, too.
Thanks so much, Amy, for sharing this impressively die-cut card with us today! You can catch more of Amy’s design work on her blog, Stamp-n-Paradise. Have a joyful day!
