Blog Design Team: Good Morning, Sunshine!
We hope your week is going really well, crafty friends! Today Blog Design Team member, Sharon Harnist has created a darling piece of home decor that is just perfect for anyone who isn’t a morning person. It’s absolutely adorable and we can’t wait to share it with you…
Now let’s hear from Sharon about her project…
I love to stretch fun stamp sets that relate to real life and make framed
pieces of art out of them. This one turned out exactly as I envisioned whenever
I first saw it!
I’m afraid this this sweet Moka Sunshine just may look a
little like someone I know first thing in the morning (me!),stumbling
around in my pjs until I can get my first cup of hot tea! I stamped her with
Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white cardstock and colored her
with these Copic markers:
I colored her robe first with the Copic BG11-BG13 combo (left in the
photo below), then I dampened a washcloth with a little Copic Colorless
Blender Solution and pressed the cloth onto the colored robe for a few
seconds. The result is a textured robe!
Next, I inked up TE’s Walking on Sunshine Embossing Folder
with Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber Distress
Inks, spritzed the folder and a piece of watercolor
paper with water. I then ran it through my die-cut machine with the
normal embossing sandwich. The result is a quick and fun watercolor-embossed
background!
To create the sentiment strip, I watercolored another piece of watercolor
cardstock with the same inks by ‘smooshing’ them onto my craft sheet,
spritzing the ink with water, then dipping the paper into the ink. After both
watercolor papers were dry, I stamped them with the “Good morning, Sunshine!”
and “Ready for a day in the office” sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black
ink.
To finish the frame, I trimmed the Sunshine background to fit into the
frame’s 3-1/2” x 5-1/2” opening, hand trimmed my Moka and adhered her with foam
tape to the background. Next, I adhered the sentiment strip to the front of the mint decorative frame. To age the frame just a bit, I
wiped a white stain on the front, leaving the distressed sides a little
darker.
This frame sits on my (home) office desk, to greet me each day!
