A Doxie Birthday Wish
Hey there crafty friends! It’s Taylor popping in here today to share a birthday card I made recently! My sister, Hannah, has the most adorable dachshund so each year I try to make her a different birthday card using my favorite doxie stamp, Marley. Here’s what I came up with for this year’s birthday card:
I was in the mood to watercolor so I started by embossing the image with black embossing powder onto TE Watercolor cardstock and watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. Then I set to work on the shaker element!
I die cut the balloon shape into the watercolor cardstock and covered the opening with transparency on the back side of the watercolor cardstock. Then I used foam tape to outline the balloon opening and filled the balloon with itty bitty star sequins in multiple colors. They’re these Martha Steward brand sequins and I just love them! I filled the opening almost completely with sequins because I didn’t want them to shake around much.
After filling the opening with sequins, I adhered a small piece of cardstock to cover the opening so I could then flip the panel over and adhere it centered onto the card base.
I added a grass border (accented with Copic marker), a sentiment from Balloon Buddies stamp set, and clouds from the Cloud Stacklets die set. I tied the balloon to Marley’s tail with a bit of natural burlap twine and called it done!
