Blog Design Team: Let’s Mix Things Up!
Hey, hey, crafty friends! We have such a fun project to share with you today. We absolutely love it when our awesome designers use our products in fun and surprising ways and today Blog Design Team member Isha Gupta has created the coolest mixed media project using our Roly Poly Owl die! You will want to make one for yourself!
And now, here’s Isha to tell us all about her project…
Hello everyone! Last month, Roly Poly Owl was released and I just had to get it, as my daughters are totally fond of owls. My elder daughter, especially, has jewelry, clothes, a bag, and coffee mug with owls. This week she is away, so I decided to give her a surprise gift for her room. I fiddled with the idea of what to create…a door hanger, a card, a felt bag, but finally decided to make a canvas which would match the colors of her walls.
I started with creating my background using gesso, tissue paper, embossing pastes, mists etc. It was a long process, as I had to dry every layer…but so totally worth it! With mixed media, you have the freedom to use many different mediums. Experiment with what works for you!
I die-cut the owl using the pink patterned paper from my stash and plain white cardstock. I then sponged some distress inks. I die-cut the leaves from Leafy Branch and sprayed some mists. I die-cut the flowers from Mini Bloomers and colored them using watercolor.Hope this inspires you to create something that isn’t a card with a Roly Poly critter!
Thank you for sharing your awesome home decor piece with us, Isha! You can find more of Isha’s fabulous work on her blog, New Ideas. Have a joyful day!
