Blog Design Team: Double-Duty + a Giveaway!
Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! Today is such an awesome day because we have two amazing projects from two of our talented Blog Design Team members that’ll have you tossing your hats! Blog Design Team members Lisa Henke and Amy Kolling have taken our recently-released Congrats Script die and created two very cool graduation cards using this fun die. Plus, to help celebrate, we’ve got an equally awesome prize for a lucky reader! Read on for details…
First up, let’s hear from Lisa on how she created her card…
It’s graduation season and for the first time in years, we know a handful of grads so I am going to need a stack of cards! What an exciting time of year for those kids. I was super excited to see the graduation products release last month — The Eventful Graduation Border was my must-have die. I really love how versatile it can be. You can see here I snipped off two of the grads, and I was even able to customize my card by using the girl images. Love that!
I started this card with the watercolor panel. I smooshed on some Mustard Seed (from Mini set 1) and Abandoned Coral (from Mini Set 13) onto watercolor paper. Once that was dried, I splattered on some coordinating ink for a little more texture. I also added in some stars. I used the Seeing Stars Dies to cut out the space where I wanted the stars in the background. Then I cut three more layers of the same stars. I layered these 4 layers of die-cut stars together, making sure the watercolor ones were on top. I then glued these back into the negative star space. It is a great way to add some dimension to your card while keeping the cohesiveness of the design.
Along the bottom, I layered up some strips of paper, a black & white stripe and some silver glitter paper. I tucked in my grad border piece and accented with some TE sequins. I love that the Build a Scene Halloween bottle includes some silver stars. I also used some Beetle Black Doodlebug Sprinkles enamel dots. The finishing touch was the Congrats Script Die. I cut it twice from Cherry Pop Cardstock and added it along the bottom of my card. I added the completed panel to a top folding Sugar Cube card base. I love how this came together and I can’t wait to make a few more. I am looking forward to customizing the background with each grad’s school colors!
Now, let’s check out how Amy used the same Congrats Script die to create her grad card!
Hello! The season of graduation is already upon us and we’ve received multiple announcements already! Taylored Expressions has some fabulous dies for creating those graduation cards and I love that I can customize each card for each graduate!
I started with a trimmed piece of light gray cardstock. I’ve die-cut the Reach for the Stars Border multiple times in both dark purple cardstock and silver glitter cardstock. I adhered these to the gray cardstock with some Tombow Multi Mono and trimmed the excess. I added this panel to a white top folding notecard.
My sentiment was done using the Congrats Script die with several layers of black cardstock which are glued together for dimension. To the “c” in the sentiment, I’ve added a die-cut Little Bits – Hat’s Off to officially make this a graduation card! The ‘congrats’ was adhered to a thick scrap of vellum and added to the card front with clear Kool Tak adhesive. Hat’s off!
