Blog Design Team: Here’s a BIG HUG in a Mug!
Hey there, crafty friends! Do you need a hug? We are big believers in them, even when you can’t physically give one — handmade cards are just like hugs and the more you give away, the more you get back in return. Today, Blog Design Team member Cindy Lawrence has created a super sweet card that will envelope you in one big hug! Check it out…
And now, here’s Cindy to tell us all about her project…
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love coffee! If you followed me around on any given day, you may find that I’ve made three different drive-through coffee stops! I regularly pay for the person behind me too (LOVE making a random stranger’s day!) You know, I could probably take my family on a pretty sweet vacation every year for what I spend on those coffee stops! Truth be told, it keeps me sane and energized; so I think it’s worth every penny.
So, it was only natural that I would have to have the Hug in a Mug stamp set! I have a wonderful group of coffee loving friends as well; I know I’ll get lots of use out of this stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored it with a few coordinating Copic Markers, and air-brushed it with my Copic Airbrush System. The sweet banner was created with the Pennant Border die & a bit of polka dotted paper from Echo Park’s Love Story collection.
I created the tablecloth-like bottom border with some more patterned papers, Oreo cardstock, and the Stitched Scallop Edger.
Sugar Cube cardstock, and the newly-released Stacked Coffee Mugs dies. I added color to the mugs with Copic Markers.
The final touch is a trio of Sugar Cube hearts created with the Stacked Coffee Mugs dies. They are subtle; but they balance out the two larger, bolder elements on the card. I added some wonderful texture to the background with the Weathered Embossing Folder — love how that dressed up the card just enough!
Inside the card, I added strips of patterned papers across the top, stamped the mug in Memento Lilac Posies, and stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black.
