What Would I Do Without You?
We can hardly believe that Thanksgiving is nearly here! If you had a weekend of battling the lines at the market for that organic turkey, we are feeling your pain — and a little creative interlude may just be in order with a pair of thankful cards from designer Shelly Mercado! From lovely to funny, these two cards will have you reaching for your ink and inspire you to create some cards that show your gratitude to someone you love. Because, after all, Thanksgiving is less about feasting, and more about friends!
A Note from Shelly:
I love how embossed images look when they are watercolored and I knew I wanted to watercolor these flowers from the moment I saw them. I pulled out my white embossing powder and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors and let the fun unfold! I added a little sparkle to some of the flowers with Wink of Stella. I diecut the image with the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate and embossed the sentiment onto vellum. The Herringbone embossing folder was a fun way to add texture to the background.
Next, Shelly created an adorable card that will give you a good giggle…
A Note from Shelly:
Have you seen the In & Out stamp sets? They are so cleverly paired with sentiments for the front and inside of your cards. I used the adorable piggy from Calendar Critters and stamped it multiple times onto my background. I layered it with vellum and love how it softened the look. Vellum is one of those magical things that can add so much to a project in a subtle way. I embossed the sentiment onto the vellum to help it pop and it really made a difference.
I finished the card by stamping a sentiment inside and adding one more piggy (because you can never have too many of these sweet oinkers!)
Thank you, Shelly, for sharing with us today! You can find more of Shelly’s work on her blog, Popsicle Toes. Have a joyful Tuesday!
