August Sneak Peeks Day 1: It’s Spooktacular!
Hey there, crafty friends! It’s hard to believe the summer is winding down and we’re sneaking peeks at our AUGUST release! Where oh where has the time gone? I can tell you where my time has gone lately; feeding, changing diapers, and rocking my baby boy. Henry is 2 months old now and he’s already looking forward to dressing up for my favorite holiday, Halloween! Scratch that – I’m looking forward to dressing him up… he probably doesn’t care much! *grin*
As we all start to gear up for fall, I’m excited to begin sneaking some peeks at our new Halloween products! We’ve got everything you need for your Halloween treat packaging and cards for those special friends and family! So let’s get started! Before I head into the project peeks, I want to make sure you know about our special offer for the August Release. This one has nothing to do with Halloween so you won’t be spooked! 😉

Here’s a look at one of the adorable emoji projects designed by Keia Shipp-Smith:
There are so many fun options with this die set! Craft your well-wishes with a laugher, a cryer, a sneezer, and more. Plus, we’ve got a fun sentiment set designed especially to go with the emojis, but versatile for lots of different styles and themes. Here’s a look at You Make Me Smile:
So now let’s get on with the Halloween! I’m super excited about these adorable Peek-a-Boo Halloween characters and of course, you just can’t get by these days without the coordinating dies!
Check out the super cuteness from Jean Manis! She managed to get all three of these cuties on one card and I love it!
I love how she used the Little Bits – Broom for the witch and added a textural element to the scene with the Brick Embossing Folder! She also featured several of our new Skinny Mini Halloween Borders which I’ll be sharing more about tomorrow.
I certainly wouldn’t be a Halloween release without a ghost, and we did one better with TWO ghosts in the Be Somebody Stamp & Die Combo:
The sentiments in this set crack me up, particularly the one that Jean used on this adorable matchbox craft:
Trick or Treat… I don’t have feet! Bahahahaha! The little ghost fits perfectly with the matchbox and would make a great container for just a little sampling of chocolate. Everything in moderation, right!?
And Keia created this frighteningly fabulous shaker card using the ghosts:
Last up for today, we’re exploring the theme of Sugar Skulls! While Western culture typically views skulls as a dark, macabre icon, the Sugar Skulls originating from the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday are traditionally whimsical and full of color. And while Day of the Dead and Halloween share the same date (October 31st), their history and meaning are entirely different. I’ve enjoyed learning more about the long history while working on these stamp sets and I absolutely love the beautiful art of the Sugar Skull. Today’s trivia: Why is it called a Sugar Skull? Because authentic sugar skulls are made out of clay molded sugar, and decorated with colored beads, foils and icing. Here’s how two of our designers chose to decorate their Sugar Skulls with paper and marker:

Here’s a look at the Sugar Skulls stamp set with coordinating dies:
And as a coordinate to the Sugar Skulls we have the Happy Flowers background stamp:
You can see how well this coordinates with the Sugar Skulls in Kim’s card above. However, when designing this stamp we decided to leave off the representation of skulls in hopes that the background would be versatile for other card occasions. Michele Boyer showed how that’s possible with this beautiful card featuring the Happy Flowers background:
