B is for Blooms: Big Ones!
Hey there, crafty friends! It’s the last day of sneak peeks before all of the new products are available for purchase! Today’s theme is ‘Blooms’ and almost every product on in today’s peeks includes a bloom. So buckle up and get ready to be wowed by flowers!
If you’re joining us today for the first time this week, then I want to make sure you know about our week-long birthday party as we celebrate Taylored Expressions’ 9th birthday! Here’s a recap of what’s happening:
You have until 8pm CST TONIGHT to submit cards for the sketch challenge and be entered to win one of our fabulous prize packs or even become the next TE Guest Designer! If you haven’t submitted anything yet, you can find all of the details here. I’ve loved seeing everyone’s projects so far… keep ’em coming!
Today we have one more party game planned! We thought it’d be fun to have a Scavenger Hunt with the Creative Team projects! Plus, we’re offering a fabulous prize package! Before you head out to complete the scavenger hunt, let’s check out the goodies on display today! I mentioned flowers and when it comes to these flowers, go big or go home! *wink* I’m excited to introduce a new collection called Big Blooms which we’re debuting with a daisy and a sunflower:
Since I still had my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol sitting out from the cards I shared on Monday, I decided to color the daisy with pencils and blend with the gamsol. It took a bit of time and patience (but what coloring medium doesn’t?) and I absolutely love the results! It was so fun to play with the pencils again!
I started by stamping the bloom onto Toffee cardstock with Chocolate Truffle ink. Then I set out coloring my daisy in a shade of magenta/purple. After I finished, I’ll admit I was terrified to do anything to it for fear that I might mess up the beautiful flower. But alas, a plan formed in my head and I decided to die cut into my colored panel with the new Thanks Script.
I took the cutout portion (setting aside the little inner pieces from each letter) and sponged it with Toffee ink for just a touch of contrast. Then I placed it back into the floral panel replacing the cutout pieces within each letter. I wanted to keep the layout simple so I framed it with a scalloped panel cut from Sugar Cube cardstock using the Frame in Frame 2 die and mounted it onto an Earl Grey card base.
Here’s another project featuring the Big Blooms – Sunflower. Isn’t Keia’s card gorgeous? She did the opposite from me with her Blessed Script sentiment by cutting it from her colored panel and then building several layers behind the cutout to give it dimension. So cool!
And check out the beauty of a watercolored sunflower on Melody’s card. I love that there are so many different ways to color these and no matter what you use it’s beautiful!
Continuing on with the ‘blooms’ theme, we have the Sympathy Blooms Cutting Plate. This cutting plate offers a simple way to show your love and support during a difficult time.
I love how Kim kept her card very simple with neutral colors. She cut the design from Sugar Cube cardstock and mounted it over Earl Grey. The addition of a few enamel shapes finishes the card off nicely.
And you can see how Melody added beautiful touches of color to her design using the coordinating Blooms Overlays.
And last, but not least, we have a new stamp set called Laurels. I’ve often admired the beautiful laurels on Pinterest and I’m so excited to add this set to our mix. With a variety of sentiments I know it will become a go-to for lots of different occasions!
I envisioned using these stamps for a set of notecards and while I haven’t had a chance to explore that vision yet, I’m so glad that Jean and Gayatri did! Here’s a look at what they came up with:
So there you have it! That’s everything for our September Release! I hope you’ve seen something you love over the past several days of sneak peeks! Don’t forget that every order over $50 will receive our Iconic Wishes – Birthday set FREE! So start your wish list now and be prepared to shop tomorrow morning!
