Liquid Watercolor Week Day 2: Color Wash & Shimmer Liquid
Good morning, crafty friends! Wow – I’m ready for some sunshine! We’ve had rainy days for the last week and the dreary skies are starting to wear on me. On the flip side, when it’s raining I don’t have to feel guilty for spending lots of time in stamp room! Today, I’m continuing with Liquid Watercolor week! In the video below I’ll share how to create a beautiful color washed background by combining a few of my favorite colors of our new Liquid Watercolor. I’ll also share more about our unique Liquid Shimmer – you’ll learn how to make your own shimmer mist and how to combine the shimmer with the watercolors for instant shine!
I also have another companion product to launch today! When working with our Liquid Watercolors you’ll need a palette (or probably several!) with wells where you can drop and mix colors. When we debuted our Liquid Watercolor, we offered a set of 4 mixing palettes free with the purchase of the entire collection. This deal was only good through the first weekend of our product launch, but we’ve had many requests to make these available for purchase so today’s the day!
There are 24 wells in these 4 palettes and what I like to do is designate two wells per color. I use one of those wells for a diluted version of the color and one well for a more intense, less diluted version of the same color. Having two wells for each color allows me to have the variation in the shade right at my fingertips. It’s also important to note that when your liquid watercolor dries inside the well, it can be reconstituted by adding a drop of water and mixing well with a brush.
I hope you’ve learned something new today! You can click below to view our entire Liquid Watercolor collection and all the tools to use with it! Stop back tomorrow when Jean will be here to share tips and tricks for painting our 3×4 watercolor panels to create an adorable set of notecards!
