Go with the Flow Stencil + Transfer Gel + Foil = FABULOUS!
Hey there, crafty friends! I hope you’re ready to see a fabulous project because I have one to share with you today! Have you tried foiling with a stencil? By using Deco Foil Transfer Gel, every stencil becomes an opportunity to create a foiled masterpiece! Today, Jean is going to share a project using the gorgeous Lapis Watercolor Transfer Sheet paired with the Go with the Flow Stencil to create an ocean-themed card that’s colorful and shiny!
To begin, tape the Go with the Flow Stencil over a Sugar Cube cardstock panel cut to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. Use a bit of tape on the back of the Sugar Cube panel to adhere it to your craft mat and also around the stencil to adhere it over the panel.
Using a palette knife, apply the Deco Foil Transfer Gel from top to bottom – using the flat edge of your palette knife to scrape the transfer gel evenly across the design. Return the unused paste to the jar.
Once the gel is applied, remove the stencil and wash it with warm water and soap. Allow the panel to dry fully (approximately 1 hour if you’ve applied the paste in an appropriately thin layer). Note: the transfer gel dries clear. While allowing the Minc Foil Applicator to warm up (with a setting at 3), trim a piece of the Lapis Watercolor Transfer Sheet to cover the entire panel. Place the foil sheet over the stenciled panel with the shiny/foil side up. Place the items in between folded parchment paper, with a piece of cardstock behind the stenciled panel for added sturdiness.
Carefully peel the transfer sheet off of the Sugar Cube panel and you will see that the foil adhered to the transfer gel portions of the design. Tip: save the used transfer sheet, as the image can be used with a Toner Sheet to create a background with the reverse image.
Jean grabbed the O-Fish-ally Awesome stamp set to pair with the foiled background. She watercolored several images with Liquid Watercolor, die cut them with the coordinating dies, and arranged them onto the watery looking backdrop. The sentiment, from Oceans of Fun, was embossed with white embossing powder and die cut with the Stitched Circle Stacklets.
I hope this tutorial gives you just the push you need to try out the Deco Foil Transfer Gel with your stencils! It really is SO MUCH FUN!
