I have a project to share with you today using the Mini Strips Backer die to create a fun background for a Valentine card.

I used the Mini Strips – Valentine stamp set, the Mini Strips die, and the new Mini Strips Backer die to create the background on this project. In the video I share how I stamped the Mini Strips – Valentine sentiments on multiple colors of cardstock, added the sentiments to the coordinating Mini Strips Backer die cuts, and tiled them onto a card base to create the background.

I mixed and matched the colors and sentiments along the way so the same colors are sentiments weren’t right next to each other. The resulting background is so colorful and fun.

Could you create a background using just the Mini Strips die cuts? Of course you can, but adding the backer to the strips adds more dimension and makes filling up the background go faster than if you use Mini Strips die cuts on their own.

To add the sentiment, I embossed ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ from the Handlettered Love stamp set in white onto a piece of vellum that I had backed with Stick-It. The vellum lets the background shine through on the card while letting the embossed sentiment stand out.
