My project for today features the new Masking Stencil – Stars – a set of two stencils in two unique layouts! While these two stencils will work great for patriotic projects, they won’t be far from the front of my collection as they’ll work great for many themes; graduation, birthday, baby (i.e. twinkle twinkle little star), and more!
I started the project with the masking stencil featuring the scattered star design. Each star is perfectly placed for creating both vertical and horizontal cards using the etched alignment guides for your A2 card base or layer.
Here’s a closer look at the Masking Stencils – Stars set that I featured in the video:

The newest addition to the Masking Stencils collection features two unique star options. Choose one large star or a perfectly spaced scattering of stars. The innovative etched alignment guides will help you perfectly place the design on your card front!

In the video, I shared my tips for blending the stars with different colors and also creating patterns within the blended stars. I finished it off with several stamped fireworks, an embossed sentiment, and my favorite Drip Drop embellishments. Here’s a look at all of the supplies that I used:

Keep scrolling for more inspiration from members of our TE Creative Team using the Masking Stencils – Stars set as well as the new Mini Strips – Patriotic stamp.

The Mini Strips – Patriotic stamp is the newest in the Mini Strips collection. Stamp 10 patriotic-themed sentiments and die cut them in one pass through your die cut machine using the coordinating Mini Strips or Mini Strips – Asymmetrical dies. Use one or multiple sentiment strips on your projects!

Laurie Willison whipped up a whole pile of cards with the new Masking Stencils – Stars set. She used the scattered stars design option in three different ways (clockwise starting at the top): stenciled with the 1/2″ Stripe Stencil set and embossed with the Lots of Stars embossing folder, stenciled with embossing glaze over stripes, and stenciled over a rectangle created with the Masking Stencils – Rectangles set – I love the striping that Laurie did in the largest star using narrow washi tape! The Mini Strips – Patriotic stamp and the Handlettered 4th of July stamp set were perfect for adding sentiments to these patriotic cards.

This pair of patriotic cards were created by Melody Rupple using the new Masking Stencils – Stars set and both cards feature embossed sentiments created with the Mini Strips – Patriotic stamp and Handlettered 4th of July stamp set.
For the card on the left, Melody stenciled the larger star using Cherry Pop and Blueberry inks and then framed the star with a piece of Sugar Cube cardstock embossed with the Lots of Stars embossing folder. The opening on the frame is die cut using the Star Stacklets die collection.
The card on the right is created with the scattered star design from the Masking Stencils – Stars set. Melody stenciled the stars in red, white, and blue over Toffee cardstock and added more stars with the star background from the Fireworks Stamp & Stencil combo.

Jill Hawkins created a whole bunch of sparkly stars using the scattered star design in the Masking Stencils – Stars set. She used her blender brushes to add the Cherry Pop and blueberry ink colors and then did a layer of glimmer paste over all of the stars to add sparkle. Jill added sentiments from the Mini Strips – Patriotic stamp that are die cut using the Mini Strips – Asymmetrical die with solid offset die cuts to add dimension.

With a change of color, Jill Hawkins transformed a patriotic look into a card to send encouragement. After Jill stenciled the stars from the Masking Stencils – Stars set, she added more stars using just the star background from the Fireworks Stamp & Stencil set. If you look closely, you will see even more stars scattered near the sentiments that Jill added from the Bits & Piece – Sparkly Stars embellishments! Receiving this card in the mailbox would definitely brighten my day!
And that’s a wrap on the patriotic release at Taylored Expressions! We appreciate all of you and your excitement and support of TE products. We’ll be back with more crafty inspiration to share! See you soon!
