Today’s video from Taylor features a patriotic card design perfect for thanking a veteran or member of the military. Watch the video below to see how Taylor created the cards, including a quick and easy embossing technique to step up your card design:
In the video, Taylor shares two versions of the same card created with the Sketched Flag Background stamp, stepping up one of the cards by adding clear embossing to the flag background. She added gold embossed sentiments from the Handlettered 4th of July stamp set to each card and sentiments stamped on the inside of the card from The Inside Scoop – Freedom stamp set.
Here’s a closer look at the new products that Taylor used on her cards:
The Sketched Flag Background stamp will fill your A2 card front with a distressed United States flag image featuring the stars at the top, the stripes at the bottom, and a space in the middle designed for adding a sentiment. Use the background for celebrating the 4th of July, thanking a member of the military, honoring a veteran or hero, and more.
When you want to honor or thank a member of the military or other patriotic hero, use The Inside Scoop – Freedom stamp set. Part of our The Inside Scoop collection, this set includes a variety of sentiments that are as perfect to use on the inside of your cards as on the outside – Taylor used sentiments from this set on the inside of her cards in the video!
I love the option of embossing the Sketched Flag Background with clear embossing powder to step up the card design. The clear embossing brightens up the ink colors and adds a great shine! To create the look, stamp the image with the desired ink color (Taylor used Blue Corn and Cherry Pop inks for the flag), leave everything in place in your MISTI while you clean the stamp, ink and stamp the image again with VersaMark ink, add clear embossing powder, and use a heat tool to melt the embossing powder.
This card design is one that would be great to mass produce! Check out the list below for the supplies that Taylor used to create the cards:
Here’s more inspiration from members of the TE Creative Team as well as a closer look at a few more new products that are available to purchase today for our 4th of July release!
Noriko Fairchild created a great effect with the Sketched Flag Background stamp. She stamped the background in gray ink tones and then added a banner with the flag stamped with Blue Corn and Cherry Pop inks to layer over the top. I love how the banner spotlights the flag and sentiment from the Handlettered 4th of July stamp set. Noriko added a few fun details to her card like the peeks of red and blue on the sides and Bits & Pieces – Gold Drip Drops on the banner!
Annette Allen created a patriotic thank you card with the Sketched Flag Background stamp. She stamped the flag background using Blueberry and Cherry Pop inks and added glittered stars scattered around the card design that are cut out with the new Starstruck dies. The sentiment is from The Inside Scoop – Freedom stamp set and is embossed in white on a banner cut out using a Double-Ended Flag Stacklets die.
This patriotic card to celebrate the 4th of July was created by Melody Rupple. The background is stamped with the Sketched Flag Background stamp using Blue Corn and Cherry Pop inks and Melody added the ‘sweet land of liberty’ sentiment from the Handlettered 4th of July stamp set embossed in gold. The gold glitter stars are cut out using the Starstruck dies and the ‘Happy 4th of July’ sentiment from from the new Full Circle – Patriotic stamp set (more on that new set below!)
The Full Circle – Patriotic stamp set features a gathering of patriotic themed icons in a circular shape along with 6 coordinating sentiments. There are so many ways to use the circle image both as a feature and to add pattern to a shape or background on your patriotic cards!
This patriotic card by Latisha Yoast is ready to celebrate! Latisha stamped the circle image from the Full Circle – Patriotic stamp set in Blueberry ink and used a red marker to color/highlight some of the icons. She cut the circle out using a Stitched Circle Stacklets die and added it to a card base that has a tone on tone Cherry Pop background stamped with the new Uncle Sam Cling & Clear Combo set. The ‘celebrate’ sentiment is layered over the circle image on a strip of cardstock with notched ends and the card is finished off with a bit of red and white twine.
Emily Mydlowski created a few different looks that you can try out with the Full Circle – Patriotic stamp set. You can create a full color look like the card on the left by stamping the circle image with Oreo ink and coloring it with Copic markers. Or, go for a look like the card on the right and stamp the circle image with a gradient effect by inking the stamp with multiple colors- Emily used Blue Corn and Cherry Pop inks. The sentiments on both cards are stamped on Sugar Cube cardstock strips and the card on the right features stars stamped and cut out using the new Starstruck products.
