Today’s video is from Joy Baldwin sharing this set of snowflake cards created with the newest Create-in-Quads set. Watch the video below to see how the cards come together from start to finish:
In the video, Joy shows how she used the Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set to create four cards. For ink colors, Joy used: Cherry Pop, Sea Salt, and Poppy Seed. The sentiments from the Get Cozy stamp set are stamped with Versamark Ink onto each panel and embossed with gold embossing powder. Joy attached the background to Sea Salt card bases and added Bits & Pieces – Gold Drip Drops for a finishing touch.
The color combination that Joy used gives the snowflakes a more modern look, but you can easily give the set a different look by changing out cardstock and ink colors. Use Toffee card bases for a rustic effect or change out the Poppy Seed ink for a green ink tone for a traditional look.
Joy also shared some great card mass production tips in the video including doing a single step for all of the cards you are making at one time: Do all of the stenciling for your backgrounds at once and even break this down by color: do all of the Cherry Pop, then all of the Sea Salt, etc. Then move on to your sentiments and stamp everything with Versamark, coat the sentiments with gold embossing powder, and then emboss everything. The less time you spend shuffling products and project steps around, the more time you will save in the long run!
Check out the list below for all of the supplies that joy used on her cards:
Here’s one last round up of projects created with the Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set created by the TE Creative Team:
This colorful flurry of snowflake cards by Kavya created with the Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set includes lots of sparkle and shine! Kavya stenciled the snowflakes with bright colors and then went back and added Happy Medium – Iridescent and Gold Glitters over some of the layers. The sentiments from the Winter Blessings stamp set are embossed in white and added to the cards along with a few other sentiments from the Get Cozy stamp set.
Jill Hawkins did a rustic winter look on this set of cards created with the Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set. She started out with Toffee cardstock and stenciled the snowflakes with Sugar Cube, Poblano Pepper, Mushroom, Earl Gray, and Fruit Punch inks. She added sentiments to each the cards from the Winter Blessings stamp set embossed in white on Earl Gray cardstock and cut out with the coordinating dies. I love how Jill added a few fun winter images from the Gus & Gertie Holiday Adventures stamp set to a couple of the cards.
Instead of sticking to the A2 size that the Create-in-Quads sets were designed for, I decided to adapt the background to use on a mini slim sized (3.5″ x 6″) card set (Heather Nichols). The snowflakes are stenciled with Cherry Pop, Avocado, Olive, and Toffee inks and then I cut them out with a Stitched Mini Slim Stacklets die to add them to Toffee card bases. The sentiments from the Winter Blessings stamp set are embossed in gold on Cherry Pop cardstock and I added them to the cards along with a few extra snowflakes cut out with the Make a Snowflake die collection and Bits & Pieces – Gold Drip Drops.
This last set of snowflake cards was created by Jen Shults and I love the blue inks tones on the Toffee cardstock! Jen stenciled the backgrounds with the Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set using Toffee, Blueberry, and Sugar Cube inks for the first three stencil layers. The last stencil layer is done with Happy Medium – Gold Glitter to add a touch of sparkle. The sentiments from the Winter Blessings stamp set are layered onto the background with a bit of burlap twine and Bits & Pieces – Gold Drip Drops to finish them off!
That wraps up the flurry of inspiration for this week! We hope you enjoyed all of the projects created with the new Create-in-Quads Snowflake Layering Stencil set, Winter Blessings stamp set (+ coordinating dies), and Get Cozy stamp set that we shared from the team. We can’t wait to see what you create and hope that you share with us on the Fans of Taylored Expressions Facebook page or other social media sites!
