Today’s video is from Heather Nichols, who designed the Candy Cane Lane Cardmaking Kit! Watch the video below to see how she created this trio of holiday cards with the kit:
In the video, Heather shares a closer look what is included in the Candy Cane Land Cardmaking Kit. She shows how to create candy canes using the Peppermint Kisses Die & Stencil Combo set with ink, Happy Medium – Red Glitter, and embossing the stripes with the Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder. Once the candy canes are all created, Heather creates three different card designs with them.
Here’s a closer look at the cards that Heather created in the video:
This first card features candy canes stenciled with Cherry Pop Ink. Heather arranged the candy canes into a background design onto piece of Toffee cardstock. She popped one of the candy canes up with foam adhesive and added holly to it that she cut out from Olive and red glitter cardstock. The ‘happy holidays’ sentiment from the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set is added next to the popped up candy cane, also adhered with foam adhesive. A thin strip of red glitter cardstock at the bottom of the card is the finishing touch!
Because the kit includes candy canes facing both directions, there are fun arrangements that you can create like the heart that Heather did on this card with the candy canes that are embossed with the Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder. Heather backed the heart shape with acetate to create a shaker element and added it to a Toffee cardstock background with foam sticky strips. Inside the shaker is a mix of Bits & Pieces – Peppermints and Snow Flurries sequins. The background of the card also features stamped holly and berries from the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set.
This last card features the glittered candy canes that Heather arranged in a criss-cross design and then framed with the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate die. She cut the frame from both Cherry Pop and Sugar Cube cardstock and inset the white strips into the red frame on the card. Several Bits & Pieces – Peppermints scattered down the card front finish the look.
Check out the list below for the supplies that Heather used on her cards:
Now, let’s take a closer look at the different elements of the kit as well as more inspiration from the TE Creative Team. Note: Most of these items are only available as part of the Candy Cane Lane Cardmaking Kit.
Create festive candy canes for your holiday projects with the Peppermint Kisses Die & Stencil Combo set. Cut out the candy cane shapes and add stripes using the coordinating stencil using inks, glitter paste, and more. The stencil stripes extend beyond the die cut shape so the stripe color goes all the way to the edges! Dress up the candy canes with a sprig of holly leaves and berries for the perfect seasonal touch!
The candy canes on this card by Lori Craig are pretty in pink! Lori added the stripes to her candy canes with Pink Champagne ink and set them in a criss-cross design over a circular opening on this Mini Slim card. She dressed up both the candy canes and the ‘season’s greetings’ sentiment with a bit of holly cut out from Mint Julep cardstock. I love the holly leaves stamped inside the circular opening that have Pink Champagne Tiny Diamonds for the berries!
Jen Shults created lots of colorful candy canes with the Peppermint Kisses Die & Stencil Combo set for this card. She stenciled the candy cane stripes with Plum Punch, Cookie Monster, and Lime Zest inks. The candy canes are arranged in a fun criss-cross design down the left side of the card over a background blended with Plum Punch ink. Jen added sprigs of holly and berries scattered across the design along with Bit & Pieces – Peppermints to complete the look.
I love how Emily Mydlowski used just the holly leaves and berries from the Peppermint Kisses Die & Stencil Combo set to create this festive holiday card! The berries are cut out from Cherry Pop cardstock, the leaves from Peapod cardstock, and Emily added highlight details to them with a white gel pen. The leaves and berries are arranged to create a background design along with Bits & Pieces – Peppermints. The striped border peeking out from behind the background is created with the Gingham Rotating stencil!
Add sentiments to your holiday themed projects with the Clearly Crafty Seasonal Sentiments stamp set. The set also includes multi-step stamps to create candy canes and holly leaves & berries as well as a few twinkle icons. Sentiments included in the set:
- Happy Holidays
- Season’s Greetings
- Merry Christmas
Cut out the sentiments using the coordinating Seasonal Sentiments die collection.
Jill Hawkins used the small holly, berries, and twinkle images in the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set to create a background pattern to set behind her candy canes on this Christmas card. I love how Jill used strips of cardstock to create stripes on her candy canes cut out with the Easy Strips – 1/8″ die! The candy canes are arranged in a criss-cross design along with die cut holly, berries, and the ‘Merry Christmas’ sentiment.
Melody Rupple also used the small images from the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set to create a background on this holiday card. She stamped the candy cane and berries with Cherry Pop ink and the holly leaves with Sweet Basil ink. The larger candy canes are layered over the top of the background and framed with the new Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate die. Melody embossed the ‘season’s greetings’ sentiment using the new Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder to coordinate with the candy cane theme!
The Candy Cane Lane Cardmaking Kit includes 6 envelopes and 6 custom envelope seals that coordinate with the theme of the kit. The six A2 envelopes are 2 each of silver glitter, red glitter, and Sugar Cube. The coordinating envelope seals are made from durable, weatherproof material and are sure to bring a smile to the recipients of your cards.
Additional Candy Cane Lane envelope seals are available to purchase in packages of 10.
This pair of cards by Emily Mydlowski feature the envelope seals from the kit! The seals are added to Open Scallop Circle die cuts and layered over backgrounds that are created with the Gingham Rotating stencil with Cherry pop ink on Pink Champagne cardstock. Both of these card designs would be perfect to mass produce for the holidays!

Put a “sweet” frame around your card and feature your favorite holiday image or sentiment with the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate. This die features diagonal stripes that give off a candy cane look and can be used for a variety of cards!
Lori Craig arranged the candy canes on this holiday cards into a heart design and framed it with the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate die cut from Granny Smith cardstock. The stripes on the candy canes and ‘season’s greetings’ sentiment are embossed with the Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder and the background of the card is stamped with the small images from the Seasonal Sentiment stamp set.
Add wonder & excitement to your cards with these swirly clay peppermint embellishments. Bits & Pieces – Peppermints are perfect for shaker cards or as an eye catching finishing touch on your cards. These are sure to add JOY!
Add some holiday magic to your cards with our *NEW* Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder. Similar to our other TE Fine Detail Embossing Powders, this powder has added clear scent crystals that will put you in the spirit while making and sending your holiday cards!
