Shaker Card Tutorial
This card was really fun to make! I found these circle stickers at Target the other night and I thought they’d make the perfect shaker with the Giga scalloped circle punch. The punch is made by Marvy Uchida and I got mine at www.joann.com. The card base is stamped with Cheesecloth in white craft ink. The paper is Halloween Hoopla by SEI. The sentiments Spooky, Haunted, and Wicked are from the mini Michael’s stamps. Finished size is 5″ square. After my cupcake shaker card last week, I’ve had several requests for a shaker tutorial. Shakers are very easy to make, but sometimes intimidating for those who haven’t tried it. So hopefully these pictures will give you a jump start! Click on any of the pictures to bring up a larger image. I’d be happy to answer any questions… just shoot me an email!
1. Cut a circle smaller than the scallop punch, but large enough to fit the image you want to make into a shaker. I use the Creative Memories circle cutting system for all different sizes of circles.
2. Center the scalloped circle punch on the smaller circle that you already punched/cut out.
3. Cut a piece of transparency to fit over the circle opening and adhere to the back side of the scalloped cutout.
4. Add foam tape around the circle opening. Cut the pieces small enough so that you can position them into a circle. I use 3M foam tape for this step… it’s the best out there for shaker cards!
5. Adhere the image onto the scalloped circle, leaving an opening in the circle so that you can pour the beads in.
6. Spoon the beads into the shaker and peel the remaining tape off to close the circle.
