A Simple Valentine
Just another simple Valentine that I offered to my card-buying customers this Valentine’s Day. I’ve had several of you email me regarding pricing of cards to sell. There are a couple of pieces of advice I can give you:
1. Don’t sell yourself short! Just because you enjoy making cards immensely doesn’t mean that your time is worthless!
2. Sit down and make a rough calculation of the cost of supplies and the cost of the time it takes you to create the card. I have found it easiest to sell all my cards at the same price so I personally don’t price each card differently.
3. Know your market. It’s just a fact… people in different areas of the country will pay different prices. I am able to charge twice as much for my cards when I sell them in California compared to when I sold them in Iowa.
4. Do what works for you! What works for me may not be the best strategy for you. I have had to experiment with prices, methods of selling, display, etc. Try it and if it doesn’t work, chalk it up to a lesson learned!
