On the Grapevine Frame
I can hardly believe it’s snowing again! Just when I thought the drift of snow covering our mailbox was starting to melt and now we get to add another 6-10 inches on top of that. I think this is the time of year when every new snow makes the beginning of spring seem like an eternity from now! I’m trying to focus on the positives so here are a few:
— The snowflakes are big and fluffy and they’re covering the dirty, slushy mess left behind by melting snow.
— My wonderful husband shovels the driveway.
— I can stay inside the warm house and create!
So that’s what I decided to do this morning. I started this chipboard frame project over a month ago and finally put the finishing touches on it today! I started with the On the Grapevine chipboard frame and discovered that the smaller chipboard frame fits perfectly over the 4″x6″ $1.00 wooden frame I had purchased at Michaels. I sprayed the chipboard frame with Lime Metallic Maya Mist and the wooden frame with Brown Maya Mist and Copper Metallic Maya Mist. Then I took the chipboard frame and added some copper sheeting behind some of the leaf cutouts. It’s hard to see in the picture, but I love the dimension this gives to the frame. I also added a little bit of copper embossing powder to a few of the leaves. After allowing both of the frames to dry I adhered the chipboard frame to the wooden frame. And then I started embellishing! I used a pattern from the Basic Grey Origins 6×6 paper pad to fill the space along the top and bottom of the chipboard frame. I scalloped the edge with my Fiskars threading water punch and added a Chocolate pearl inside each scallop. Then I tied a brown satin bow, covered a chipboard leaf with another pattern from the Origins paper pad, and added a few pearly dew drops to finish it off!
I don’t have the perfect picture for the frame yet so I cut a 4×6 piece of Choice Buttercream cardstock to fit the opening and embellished it a teensy bit so it can still be used as decor until I find that perfect picture to go inside!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you all have a wonderful day…stay warm! 🙂
