Sneak Peeks Day 1: Feelin’ Groovy & Destination Cuppie
Good morning! Thanks for joining us for the first day of sneak peeks for the July stamp release at Taylored Expressions! The Baker’s Dozen and I will be sharing our sneak peek projects over the next several days with all of the new products being released on Thursday, July 8th at 8am PST.
Today we’re sharing sneak peeks from two different collections of yummy new rubber stamps! First, I want to show you Feelin’ Groovy, the latest set illustrated by me! The inspiration for this set came from all of the 70’s icons I’ve seen popping up in everything from jewelry and purses to clothing and decor items! I hope I’ve captured the groovy vibe in these fun images! On my first card, I started by sponging the clouds throughout the sky. Then I added the rolling hills and pierced and stitched them. I stamped the beetle in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. Then I cut it out and popped it up on the grass. There are so many fun possibilities with this set that I couldn’t stop with one card! I wanted to try creating my own background paper with the long retro bead border stamp. I used Colorbox Lime Pastel, Lipstick Red, Tangerine, and Rouge inks along with Stampin’ Up Cool Caribbean to create the patterned paper. If you look closely you can see that I added Crystal Twinkles to the small open dots within the border (which was super easy with Embellie Gellie). I stamped the VW bus image in two different colors and then pieced the pink portions onto the image.
Now I had another special visitor at Taylored Expressions a few weeks ago and I can’t wait to show you what she made! My 10-year-old cousin Lauren came to visit and I set her and her creativity loose in my stamp room. First I should tell you, Lauren loves peace signs! Every day I saw her she was wearing a new necklace or shirt or jacket with a peace sign. So the Feelin’ Groovy set was perfect! It was so fun to see her mind working as she created her card. She cut strips of patterned paper and weaved them together to create the background. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. The set has a sentiment that says “Scootin’ by to say hi” to go with the scooter image. Lauren loved that sentiment, but she said “Cars don’t scoot, Taylor.” so she wrote her own sentiment “Driving by to say hi!” Perfect! *grin* I know Lauren is reading this (Hi, Lauren!) and she’d love to hear what you think of her card so leave her a comment below!
We also have a fun Project Pantry Kit to introduce today! All of the cards above use ingredients from That 70’s Project Pantry kit. Our Project Pantry kits include all of the perfectly coordinated supplies to simplify your papercrafting! For just $17.95 you’ll receive the following:
- 12 sheets of cardstock (10 colored, 2 Choice Snow White)
- 16 sheets of 6×6 single-sided patterned paper from the Doodlebug Feeling Groovy Collection
- 5 yards of ribbon (1 yard each of 5 different styles)
- 6 Peace Sign Brads
- 16 Glitter Brads
- 24 Mylar Flowers
- 24 Rhinestone Flowers
- 6 Butterfly Embellishments
I know this blog post is fast becoming the longest blog post in history, but we have more fun images to introduce today! Cuppie is vacationing at four popular destinations in the United States this month. I only wish I could have joined him! Snapshots from each of Cuppie’s four trips (Seattle, New York, Hollywood, and San Francisco) will be offered as A la Carte stamps along with one coordinating sentiment. For my first Destination Cuppie card I decided to use New York. And believe it or not, I have never been to New York! I started by crumpling a piece of map patterned paper from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop collection and distressing the edges. I colored the image with Copics and cut it out with Spellbinders Labels 4. I added red rhinestones to the cherry and the heart in the sentiment along with some Farmer’s Market Cherry and Chocolate twine to finish it off.
Whew… my fingers are fatigued from all this typing! The amazing Baker’s Dozen girls have some fabulous projects to share with you today too and I know you won’t want to miss them!
