Happy Friday! As I’m typing this out I’m fully aware that my New Year’s resolution to “Blog More” was not upheld this week. And it’s not that I don’t have projects to share! There’s nothing I can do about it now, but I do know that next week will be filled with inspiration and lots of blog posts as we begin sneak peeks for our March Release on Monday! I can hardly wait to show you what we’ve been cookin’ up!
But first, we have a new sketch challenge! This one was designed by the amazing Sankari Wegman. Don’t be scared away by all the little blocks. Remember… this is called a sketch challenge for a reason! *wink*
Here are the sketch requirements:
Create a card using the above sketch as inspiration. You’re not required to use TE stamps to play, but there’s a bonus prize if you do! To be entered into the prize drawing you must link your card using the In Linkz provided below by Thursday, March 8th. And here are the prizes that are up for grabs:
1. I will randomly select one person from all of the challenge links to receive a $10 gift certificate to the TE Store! If you used predominantly TE Stamps on your project you’ll receive an extra $10 bonus for a total $20 gift certificate!
2. I will select my favorite card to win Top Chef honors! The winner of the Top Chef will play along with the sketch crew and have her blog and card design featured here on the TE blog.
So are you wondering about our winners from last week? The random winner of a $10 gift certificate to the TE Store is Janice Munoz! Congrats!
And the winner of our Top Chef honors is Linda Suarez who created this fabulous card! I love the color combination she used and the patterned papers she chose are perfect for the graduation theme. Linda will be joining with the sketch crew for TESC154 and we’ll learn more about her then!
First, it’s time to learn a little more about Cheryl Lea, our very first Top Chef who is joining the sketch crew today to provide inspiration. We asked Cheryl a few questions to learn a little more about her:
Q: When did you begin stamping? How did you get started?
A: Before I was a stamper, I made blank, hardbound, hand-sewn journals. But, making a book is time-consuming, and I quickly learned that the part I loved best was working on the covers anyway, so I was naturally drawn to cardmaking and stamping–covers without the pages in between. So, I started stamping about a year ago, and I have loved every second of it!
Q: What is your favorite TE Stamp Set?
A: My favorite TE stamp set is Sparkle & Cheer. The reindeer and Christmas tree stamps in that set are absolutely beautiful.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration?
A. My inspiration for stamping comes, literally, from every thing I see, and I find myself constantly viewing the world in terms of color, shape, and texture. But, my favorite place to find inspiration is in all the wonderful blogs I visit. There are some super-talented stampers out there, and I have yet to find a single stamper who hasn’t been happy to share her talent and techniques with the rest of us. The kindness, generosity, and support of stampers is amazing and tremendously uplifting–especially for a new stamper.
Thank you so much for letting us in on a little piece of your stamping life, Cheryl! We’re thrilled to have you as our Top Chef! You can find Cheryl’s inspiration for this week’s sketch below with the rest of our sketch team.
For my card I thought it would be fun to do a little piece of art inside each box. So I cut up 1″ square pieces, arranged them onto my paper, and taped them down with removable tape. I traced around each square with a
Copic multiliner. Then I created a mask for the square and stamped images from the
Hello Spring set inside. It snowed here yesterday so I was feeling the need to make something bright and springy! I colored the images with Copics and also added some
Crackle Accents to the egg shells. I re-stamped the sentiment, layered it on red cardstock and then popped it up on foam tape to add more dimension to the card. The patterned papers are from
My Mind’s Eye Fly A Kite 6×6 pad. This is an older collection, but I love the papers and I’m determined to use every last scrap! To finish off the card I just added some ribbon and a few paper flowers from my stash.
And as promised, our sketch crew is back with some ‘out-of-the-box’ interpretations on this sketch! Super fun! Just click on their blog names below for more details on each beautiful creation:
