Oink, Cluck, Neigh, Moo… Madelyn is turning 2!
September 13th is a special day! Two years ago our little Madelyn Grace was born and today I can’t imagine life without her. She’s grown into a spunky (dare I say slightly ‘wild’) girl who loves to run, jump, slide, swing, and point out every truck, tractor, or bus that passes (she loves her trucks!). She’s also very sweet and showers us daily with hugs and slobbery kisses and her version of “I Love You” (pronounced I YA YOU). Here’s a look back at one of her newborn photos:
As we prepare for the arrival of baby girl #2 in just five weeks, I’ve been reminiscing about that sweet baby smell, those eyes that stare into mine, and the little hand that curls around my fingers. Such precious moments! Yet it has been just as much fun watching Madelyn grow into a big girl who will soon be an amazing big sister. She loves to help Jon with the laundry (yes…Jon does the laundry at our house!), change the diapers on all of her babies, and exert her independence with the most commonly heard phrase at our house, “No mommy… Madi do it”. Here’s a look at her today:
We’ve invited our friends and family to join us for a birthday celebration tomorrow. Madi loves tractors, big trucks, and all kinds of animals so we’re having a farm themed birthday party. This is the outfit she’ll be wearing to her party. Her Grandma made the cute shirt and matching skirt and the outfit was completed with the most adorable cowgirl boots. Now if I can just get her to keep them on for more than 10 minutes I’ll be happy!
Now on to a little something crafty. I thought I’d share the invitations I made for her party:
I started by cutting my hand-drawn barn template out of chipboard. Then I used the chipboard piece to trace onto the barn wood patterned paper that I picked up at my local scrapbook store. Before adhering the patterned barn onto a thicker white base, I cut down the middle of the front and across the top and scored the lines where the door would open. All of the white detail strips were hand-cut, measured, and adhered to create the barn doors and window. I also used the Grass Border Die along the bottom of the card and as the ‘hay’ in the window. The barn door knobs were brads from my stash and I used Natural Burlap Twine to tie the doors closed.
Here’s what’s revealed when you open those doors:
As I was creating these invitations I found the most perfect die for the farm animals and even though it’s not a Taylored Expressions die, I just had to get it! *wink* It’s the farm animal border from Die-Versions.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll be back next week to share more party pics including the party favors, the farm-themed cake, and the all-important food table! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
