TE Blog Design Team: Heartfelt Sympathy
We make cards for a variety of reasons, but when someone is in most need of comfort, a card can mean more than we know. We asked Blog Design Team member Wanda Guess to create a sympathy card that shows care and love, both inside and out, for these most difficult of times.
products Taylored Expressions has for these occasions. It is never good
to have to send a sympathy card, but I think at a difficult time, a hand
made card is really special and meaningful to the person receiving it.
‘thinking of you’ cards. Today I’ve used Care and Comfort II, which uses
sentiments for both the inside and the outside of the card. I stamped the inside with one of the nice sentiments intended for the
inside of the card. I then matched a butterfly from the front of the
card.
To create a sponged frame, Wanda has shared some techniques she used that had some lovely results:
Stacklet and then adhered it to my paper with some washi tape. I gently
used a dauber and some Distress Ink to sponge around the opening.
my cut out frame still in place, I stamped some leaf images in green
also. This makes a really pretty and soft effect on your card.
instead of white. I cut out a pretty butterfly and added a pearl. You
can see where I added a bible verse in linen ink also, very subtly in
the background.
Wanda’s Notes: Care and Comfort II is a wonderful set for sympathy cards. I also
used the Make it Amazing stamp set. Some of my other favorites are Shade
Tree Scripture and Posh Posies.
For creating sympathy cards, Wanda has these suggestions:
- Keep it simple and elegant
- Use muted colors like green, blue or brown
- Use images from nature – leaves, flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, trees, and birds
- Speak from your heart
We hope that Wanda’s project has helped inspire you to create cards for difficult moments so that you may give someone in need a bit of welcome comfort. Wanda will be back later this month, so we hope you’ll visit us again soon.
