Blog Design Team: Congratulations Are in Bloom!
Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! Blog Design Team member Kay Miller has got an absolutely gorgeous card to share with us today! She used some of our dies to create a bouquet of summery floral fun.
and layer in different ways. I used the Bloom Where You’re Planted dies for this fun flowery card. This die set is so
great because it comes with a cute little flower pot to put your flowers
in. If you don’t want to use the pot, there is a stem and leaves, so
they can stand alone too.
Kay’s Notes: First, I cut the flower
dies out of several different colors of card stock, so I would have
plenty of layering options. One really fun thing about this set of dies,
is that the two largest of the flower dies fit together to create a
little outline around the flower. I love that! Next, I just played with
the flowers, layering them with foam tape until I had enough to make a
potful.
Kay’s Notes: Then I cut out the flower pot and the top rim. I cut the top rim
twice, once out of the same color as the pot, and once out of a
slightly darker color to layer underneath. It makes it look like it has a
shadow. Next I die cut the leaves from Bloom Where You’re Planted and
Branches, Banner & Bloom in two different shades of green. Then I die
cut the banner in white and stamped the “Congratulations” on it.
Kay’s Notes: To
put the card together, I first made a little table cloth for the flower
pot to sit on with the rim of the flower pot die cut in red, and glued
that flat to the card. I then glued the flower pot down flat slightly
overlapping the top edge. I knew this card would have lots of
dimension once I had added all the flowers, so I needed the first layer
to be pretty flat. Next, I glued the leaves down flat as well in various
places above the pot. Next I added foam tape to the flowers and added
them in a pleasing manner. Lastly I folded the banner on the scored
lines and added it across the flower pot with some foam tape only in the
middle.
Kay’s Notes: Now you have a lovely card perfect for
someone who has just bought a new home, or any event which would call
for a congratulations!
