Blog Design Team: A House Made of Gingerbread
Hey there, crafty friends! You know we love the sweet stuff here at TE and today we have something scrumptiously cute from Blog Team designer, Kay Miller. Check out her yummy card below…
Kay’s Notes: I have to tell you that I had the most fun ever making this card! I had a blast cutting out all the little pieces to put this
darling gingerbread house together.
Kay’s Notes: I used the Sack It Gingerbread House
die, but I used it for a card, not for the sack. So first I embossed a
sheet of light blue card stock with the Winter Flurry embossing folder
and adhered that to an A2 size card. Next, I cut a snowy hill out with
the Build A Scene Rolling Hills die and adhered that to the embossed
panel with foam tape. Next I assembled the gingerbread house!
Kay’s Notes: Since I was not creating a sack (which I would have with the Sack It to You w/Bonus Santa die if I wanted to create a matching gift sack), I cut out a rectangle for my
house shape that was the same size as the little triangle piece at the
top of the house. Then I glued the top dark brown piece to it and added
the roof, snow, and a little white scalloped border along the bottom
edge.
Kay’s Notes: I then cut out all of the little pieces in various colors of card
stock, and adhered them to the house. I used foam tape on the front part
with the door in it, the heart at the top, the lollipops, and the
candies along the bottom. I added the greenery on either side of the
heart from the Flower Box Sprigs and Flowers die set. I just cut a
small rectangle out for the chimney.
Kay’s Notes: I added the snow at the top by cutting out the snow piece
on the front door part and snipping it in half. I added enamel embellishments to the snow on the roof and to the centers of the
lollipops. Finally, I glued the house down to the card with foam tape. I decided the front of the card didn’t need an embellishment!
Though this wasn’t a quick and easy card, it was so very much fun to create,
and I will definitely be making more of these in some other fun colors — my mind is already spinning with ideas!
Thanks so much, Kay, for sharing such a detailed and adorable card with us today Tune in tomorrow as new Blog Team designer, Amy Kolling shows off her first card project!
