Blog Design Team: Happy Birthday, Cupcake!
Blog Team designer Kay Miller has created a card after our own hearts. Cupcakes, glorious cupcakes! Check out her scrumptious project below!

Kay’s Notes: I think I probably need more birthday cards than any other kind of card I
make. The fun thing about birthday cards is that they can have
pretty much any kind of design or theme to them as long as they say
‘Happy Birthday’ somewhere! One of the most common themes though, is a
favorite of mine, cupcakes!
Kay’s Notes: I used the cute Build a Treat set for this
card. It comes with several tops and bottoms, and even ice cream cones
that work wonderfully with the tops as well. I colored three of the
cupcake bottoms and three of the tops with my Copic markers and cut them
out with the matching dies. I also stamped, colored and cut out a
couple of cute little flowers from the Falling For You set.
Kay’s Notes: I glued the
tops of the cupcakes to the bottoms and added the cherries on top, then I
set those aside while I went to work on my background. I used
watercolor paper and first stamped and embossed my sentiment, then
blended some Spun Sugar distress ink across the center of my paper, and
sprinkled a tiny bit of water on it. I then added a bit of water to
some Shabby Shutters Distress ink and flicked it over my paper with a
paintbrush for the little green speckles.
After it was good and dry, I adhered the cupcakes and flowers with foam tape. I added a few
Doodlebug sprinkles to make it fun and festive! Lastly, I mounted my
piece of watercolor paper on an A2 top folded card.
