Blog Design Team: Goody Goody Gumballs!
Happy Friday! Today the very talented Lea Lawson is treating us to a fun shaker card that will send you off to the weekend with a smile on your face. Read on for all the details…
Lea’s Notes: I’m a self proclaimed “non-colorer” when it comes to stamping. I haven’t invested in alcohol markers, though I really admire the amazing things I’ve seen other designers do with them! Since I’ve been introduced to watercolor, I’ve felt better
about purchasing stamp sets that would normally require some coloring.
I’ve got a watercolor set that was extremely affordable, and allows me
to easily add some color to any stamp that I feel needs it!
Lea’s Notes: Watercolor is how I colored the cute gumball machine from the Goody Goody
Gumballs stamp set for my card today! I stamped it in onyx black
Versafine ink and let it set for a couple minutes. Then I just added watercolor to it in reds & greys. I die-cut the gumball machine,
then covered the peekaboo hole with some acetate.
Lea’s Notes: After
layering papers to the top of an A2 card trimmed from Cherry Pop
cardstock, I poured a small group of sequins to the middle of the top
layer. After adding foam dots and strips to the back of the die-cut
gumball machine, I adhered it over the top of the sequins. I made sure the
adhesive was fully stuck to the paper, and then shook the sequins loose
so they would look like gumballs in the machine!
Lea’s Notes: I cut two
banner strips from patterned paper, and stamped the sentiment to the
neutral one. I then layered them to the bottom of the card, popping the
sentiment strip with foam adhesive. I embellished the card with some
additional sequins to finish it!
Lea’s Notes: I hope you will try your hand at watercolor! Just be
sure to use a brush that has a small and thin amount of bristles to
it. And don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect, or if some paint seeps
over the stamped lines…creating homemade cards is all about embracing
imperfections. I hope that you enjoyed my fun and colorful card
today!
