Blog Design Team: Tiny Quilted Love
Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! Today, we have got a treat for you! Blog Team Designer Julia Stainton is sharing a gorgeous project with a keen idea on how to use tiny dies!
And now, let’s hear from Julia about her project…
I love tiny stamps and dies. They are so sweet but sometimes they can be
a challenge to design with. An easy solution to this problem is to
divide up your project into smaller areas. A grid always works and makes
a simple design element. You can leave the squares of the grid as they
are, but I’m always looking for an excuse to pull out my sewing machine
and stitch away. A little stitching turns a simple grid into a quilt
detail and adds a little extra texture.
Each square was cut to 1.5″ square. This makes a 4.5″ panel and it’s
matted in Sugar Cube then adhered to a Toffee cardstock 5″ square card
base. I love the look of a square card to change things up from the
usual rectangular card.
Mini tags are adorable and I die-cut them from two
colors of felt and Toffee cardstock. A couple of the cardstock tags
were stamped on with sentiments from the Lavender Bouquet stamp set and
adhered with 3D foam squares. The rest of the tags, both cardstock and
felt, were adhered in the same manner and then embellished with random
tiny bits and pieces that I had on hand such as twine, mini flowers, and
vintage buttons.
I love how I have lots of little tags left over
for other projects just ready to be used. They are stored in a little
glass jar on my desk for future use. (Julia’s Tip: If you have a favorite die set that
you use over and over, die cut extra while you have the die out to make
future crafting quick and easy.)
Thanks so much, Julia, for all your terrific tips on how to create a quilted card and giving us such a wonderful idea for how to use tiny dies! Be sure to check out Julia’s blog, Belle Papier to see more of her lovely projects. Have a joyful week!
