Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I’m already looking forward to the party I’ll be hosting with a friend this year! We’re starting to gather ideas and see how we can incorporate lots of these new releases into the tricks and treats we’re planning. And as always I’m excited to begin planning costumes for our girls and treats for them to share with their friends!
One of the products I’m most excited about is our newest Matched Collection: Build a Scene Halloween. This paper pack was designed with scene building
in mind and has lots of different patterns that you can use to die cut
Halloween shapes and build a spooky scene. In addition to scene building patterns, we’ve done something really unique with
this paper pack and I’ve already had tons of fun playing with it!
Each paper pack includes 2 sheets each of two unique pre-designed scenes (see below). These scenes were created to work perfectly with
several of the stamps and dies we’re releasing this month to make card-making quick, fun, and super cute! Instead of printing the scene across the entire piece of 6″ x 6″ sheet, we’ve sized the scene at 4″ x 5.25″ making it the perfect size to layer onto an A2 card front. Simply trim the scene from the patterned paper
and then save those extra patterned strips to use on another project! I love it when
there’s nothing going to waste!
On my first project I used the mantel scene along with the Little Bits Potion Bottles, Broom, and Black Cat to build a spooky scene:
After die cutting all of the pieces and assembling the scene, I embellished it with sequins from the Build a Scene Halloween sequins collection and embossed a sentiment at the top with white embossing powder.
Taylor’s Tip: Since the scene is printed flat on the paper, pop up your die cut pieces for extra dimension. And don’t forget to ruffle the fringe on the base of the broom!
There are so many amazing Halloween goodies this month that it was hard to choose what to showcase today, but I ultimately settled on the Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins set to create this fall-themed scene:
So why is this set called Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins? It was designed to work with our previously released Peek-a-Boo Circles die as designer Courtney Kelley shows us on her card here:
By now you know I love a set that offers versatility, which is why the Peek-a-Boo set is another one of my favorites. It can be used for Halloween, Fall, or Thanksgiving, with or without the Peek-a-Boo Circles die!
I started by stamping my pumpkins in two shades of orange (Memento Morocco & Tim Holtz Spiced Marmalade) and the stem in Memento Bamboo Leaves. The pumpkin and stem are all one stamp so I’d recommend using dew drop and mini sized ink pads to ink each portion of the image separately. Then I die cut the pumpkins with the coordinating die set.
I assembled the scene using Build a Scene – Rolling Hills, Cloud Duo, and the Arbor Fence. For even more dimension, I popped up the top layer of the hill and used Copic marker to shade beneath the pumpkins.
Several of the sentiments in this set were designed to work with new Little Bits sign post and you can see I chose ‘pumpkin patch’ for my sign post cut from Toffee cardstock.
Thanks so much for joining us for our first day of sneak peeks! Don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win the Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins stamps and dies. We’ll be back again tomorrow with more inspiration and in the meantime you’ll want to visit the blogs of our talented creative team to see what fabulous projects they’ve designed using our new Halloween products:
