Blog Design Team: Cloud Banner Birthday
Happy day, crafty friends! Today, Blog Team Designer Julia Stainton has created a fun-filled birthday card that features our Build a Scene – Rolling Clouds die set. We love it and know you will, too!
And now, let’s hear from Julia about her project…
The Build-a-Scene dies from Taylored Expressions are so versatile in how
you can mix and match them. Every time I see a project created with the
Rolling Clouds die set it always makes me smile. Stitched clouds are so
pretty! While they are usually paired with other Build-a-Scene dies, I
wanted to create a lovely background with lots of simply beautiful
layers of clouds.
To create this background, I simply cut out
several different styles of the clouds and adhered them to a 4″ x 5.25″ panel
from Sugar Cube cardstock. All the beautiful curves of the clouds make a
sweet and lovely white background. All that white is made interesting
with the subtle texture of the layers and the visual movement of the
curves.
Every celebration needs a banner (at least I think so!)
They are so festive and fun. I didn’t have a specific banner die on hand
so I went through my dies to see if there was something else I could
substitute. The Build-a-Tag 3 die set has this wonderful notched
sentiment strip in it. Folded over, it makes a fun and festive banner,
especially when paired up with a lovely color combo of felt. I’ve simply
folded them and adhered them over the hemp string with a hot glue gun.
The
bottom of the card design makes a great place to add a stamped
sentiment in all the white space. This “Happy Birthday” one is from the
Small Packages stamp set and I love the two unique fonts.
To
finish off the design, I glued on some sweet sequin accents throughout
the card. I love how they catch the light and add a lovely festive feel
to the card.
Thanks so much, Julia, for sharing this cloud-filled beauty with us today! Be sure to check out Julia’s blog, Belle Papier to see more of her lovely projects. Have a joyful day!
