Hey there, crafty friends! Today, Kay Miller has created an absolutely delightful die-cut nautical card that will make you smile.
Let’s hear from Kay about her project…
I love nautical cards. There is just something about the colors of
red, white, and blue together alongside sailboats, lighthouses and
water that just makes me happy! Taylored Expressions has so many cute
dies that work great for this theme. I have always loved the Pockets & Pages 3×4 Circle
Showcase die set. It’s designed for pocket scrapbooking, but it also makes the
perfect little frame for cards! You can showcase anything you want in
the little circle window and then fill in with different papers or card
stock. So fun!So to start off, I cut the Pockets &
Pages Circle Showcase die out of red card stock for my base. I also
cut it out of two different blue patterned papers. I then inlaid the
patterned papers into the red base. I cut another of the same shape out
of white, then, using the piece that pops out of the bottom, I cut the
clouds with the Rolling Clouds die. I glued this down at the bottom.
Next I cut a light blue circle out and glued this into the center. I cut
a darker blue circle out as well and cut just a small piece of the
bottom off and glued this down as the water. I cut the sailboat out with
the little Sailboat die, and adhered that to the center with foam tape.
I added a few white dots with my white gel pen.Next, I
cut the lighthouse out with the Lighthouse die, assembled all the
pieces and added a few dots with my white gel pen. I adhered it to the
left corner of the panel, on top of the clouds, with foam tape. Next, I
cut the “Hey” sentiment out of red fun foam (available at your local craft store or online) and Poppyseed card stock. I
layered the card stock on top of the fun foam and glued that down at the
bottom.I then cut out a piece of fun foam just a bit
smaller than the little panel and glued that to the back and glued this
whole thing down to an A2 top folded white card base. (I used the fun foam instead of just foam tape, because it makes the piece so much
sturdier for mailing and this card in particular seemed to need the
extra support.)Stamp a special sentiment on the inside and you have a
great card for a girl or guy!
