I really love cross-stitch! But can you believe I’ve never actually tried it? As a little girl I remember seeing some of my great grandmother’s stitching displayed in hoops around her home and I still find myself drawn to the beauty of it today! It’s one of those things I tell myself I’ll learn how to do one day!
In the meantime though, I wanted to be able to achieve the cross-stitched imagery in the form of a stamp so one of our talented illustrators, Nancy, designed the fabulous Stitch by Stitch set. Here’s the card I created with the set:
I started by stamping the image onto Sugar Cube cardstock. There are a few different ways to achieve the multi-colored image. First, if you own a MISTI tool you could ink each portion separately and stamp it multiple times while keeping your paper in exactly the same place. The MISTI allows for perfect registration when you want to stamp the same image in multiple steps. If you don’t own a MISTI, just grab a set of water based markers (do not use alcohol based markers for this!) and color directly onto the stamp with the markers.
After stamping the image I cut it out with one of the Stitched Circle Stacklets. There’s also a circle included in the embroidery hoop die set, but I wanted to show you that one of the stitched circles also fits perfectly within the hoop.
I finished the card with some patterned paper from the Rainbow Brights collection, heart shaped enamel dots, and natural burlap twine.
Ever since I laid eyes on the Heart of Hearts stamp set, I was dreaming of watercoloring these cute patterned hearts that make up a larger heart. When I finally sat down with the actual stamp in hand, this is what I came up with:
I started by stamping the image four times onto watercolor paper with Versamark and then heat embossing with white embossing powder. Then I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to watercolor each grouping of hearts in different shades of a similar color.
After stamping the sentiment ‘from my heart’ onto Sugar Cube cardstock, I die cut it with a Heart Stacklet and then stamped the ‘I love you’ sentiment onto the stitched banner. Both sentiments are adhered with foam tape.
The rest of our creative team is featuring additional items from today’s products so make sure you hop around to their blogs! There’s certainly a lot to LOVE!
