Blog Design Team: ‘Tis the Season!
Happy Friday, crafty friends! Next week is Christmas and there is still plenty of time to send someone a handmade card and bring some joy to their lives. We know many of you are already under a blanket of snow, so we have a treat for you today. Design Team member Amy Kolling has created a wonderful card that will get you inspired to create.
Now, let’s hear from Amy about her project…
Season’s Greetings! The holidays are upon us and today I am sharing a card in which I’ve used only Taylored Expressions
dies and no stamps!
I’ve used some “inlaid die-cutting” to create my little scene to cut down on the bulk. I began with the Color Block Cutting Plate
die-cut in white and trimmed down to just the three panels so I could do a
“window.” The window pieces were blended with Tumbled Glass Distress
Ink and set aside. I die-cut another Color Block Cutting Plate in white
glitter cardstock. To begin the inlaid technique, I placed the two upper
window pieces over the glitter pieces and die-cut both at the same time
using the Build a Scene: Rolling Hills. This gives perfectly
lined up pieces for inlaying! I repeated this for the bigger window as
well. Then, mounting the window and the inlaid pieces was a breeze!
Next, was simply die-cutting the pieces for the mini Snowman, mini Penguin, and Build a Scene: Winter Trees.
Gluing all the little pieces took a bit of time, but look how adorable
they turned out! I finished my card by adhering the Season’s Greetings Banner over the top two windows.
Thanks so much, Amy, for sharing this happy winter scene. If you love the idea of inlaid die-cutting, tune in to the Blog this Saturday as our Creative Team shares some projects that’ll knock your socks off! You can catch more of Amy’s design work on her blog, Stamp-n-Paradise. Have a joyful day!
