Blog Design Team: New Digs!
Happy Thursday, crafty friends! You may have noticed that our Blog address has changed and we are pleased to say the Blog has a new home! If you’d like to update your bookmarks, or to find us in the future, just use tayloredexpressions.com/blog. We hope to see you here often! To celebrate our new digs, we’re featuring a very appropriate and fabulous card from Blog Design Team member, Lisa Henke. We absolutely adore it and can’t wait to share how she created it…
And now here is Lisa to tell you about her project…
As soon as I saw the Sign of the Times Stamp & Die Combo released last month, I knew I wanted to make a happy new home card. We are in the beginning phases of building our forever home and I have been dreaming about moving in next Fall (fingers crossed!). I also was drawn to the pretty and whimsical feeling of the stamp.
I started with a piece of Tim Holtz distress water color paper cut down to 4″ x 5.25″. I used the ink smooshing technique to apply some mini distress inks (Twisted Citron, Blueprint Sketch, and Broken China). After the ink dried, I spritzed on some water to give that fun splatter effect that is so great with distress inks.
I set that aside and pulled out my Copics to color up the sign image and a few pieces from Under the Toadstool. These two stamp sets work so well together! I stamped the sentiment in black ink. Then, I used the Under the Toadstool Dies to cut out the house and the Sign of the Times Die to cut the sign. I used my scissors to snip out the mushroom and mouse.
I needed a little something extra to finish off the card, so I decided to use the sweet little Stitched Scallop Edger Die along the bottom. I can’t resist a twine bow and I had the perfect match of greens with the Parrot Green Burlap Twine.
Thanks so much, Lisa, for sharing such an apropos card with us today. And, good luck with building your dream home! You can find more of Lisa’s wonderful work on her blog, My Little Creative Escape. Have a joyful day!
