Blog Design Team: Big Bundle of Joy
Hello there, crafty friends! We hope you enjoyed Taylor’s birthday card from yesterday. If you missed it, you can catch it HERE. Today, we’ve got a darling baby card to share with you from Blog Design Team member Amy Kolling — we just love the big bundle of joy featured on her card. Check it out…
Now here’s Amy to tell us about how she created her card…
Hello! I just love with the adorable Hippo Birdy set and was so excited to see the new coordinating dies that go with this set! I like the versatile sentiments that are just perfect for thanks, baby, and birthday. I don’t seem to make enough baby cards and when I need one, I’m scrambling for one. Most often the baby cards I give are hand-delivered, so adding bulk to these cards is no problem.
I started with Copic coloring this stamped elephant with N1, N3, and N5. I added shading with small dots and added an “ear” that had been colored with N1 with foam adhesive over the main colored image. I love this for the bit of dimension it adds! A tiny pink twine bow was added with Glossy Accents.
I created my focal point using the scallop frame from the Frame in Frame Cutting Plate. These are a must-have in your collection! I also used the next-to-smallest frame by cutting just one side of the frame and using it to ground my elephant. Below my elephant, I stamped my sentiment and colored the word ‘BABY’ with RV25 Copic.
My framed focal point was layered onto a piece of pattern paper from the 6×6 Formula for Love Paper Pack. For a last bit of embellishment, I added a twine threaded button. I haven’t used buttons on a card in years and I really had to dig to find them, but I’m glad I did. Since the button really adds bulk to my card, I will most definitely be hand-delivering this one!
