Get Inked: A Rainbow of Color!
Hey there, crafty friends! It’s day 2 of our super fun week celebrating our brand new Premium Matched Ink and we have so much inspiration in store for you! A note from Julia…
I’m so thrilled with the new ink line from Taylored Expressions! The colors and quality of these inks are simply wonderful. Today I’ve used them to create a beautiful vintage roses card featuring these new inks and the Simply Stamped – Roses set. This stamp set shows off just how beautifully these inks all work together. To create the roses and their three-step stamping technique, I’ve paired up Strawberry Milkshake, Lollipop and Cherry Pop dye inks for the largest roses. For the smaller, yellow roses I’ve stamped with Lemon Meringue, Strawberry Milkshake and then Lollipop. By layering inks together they blend and create beautiful shades and dimension. To add a lovely soft vintage look, all the edges are lightly sponged with the Chocolate Truffle Ink. Sweet texture is added in with dry embossing, and the Dotted Lattice Embossing Folder. Stamping a rose garden is a wonderful way to kick off June. Enjoy each beautiful moment!

A note from Charmaine…
I LOVE color, so when Taylored Expressions came out with their own ink pads, I was in heaven! On my one card, I just used the ink pads normally, letting the vibrant colors and excellent coverage show. On the other card, I really wanted to watercolor and see what else I could do with these inks…they watercolored beautifully! The colors stayed true, but became a little softer as they dried, which was perfect for what I was creating. I just love these new ink pads and can’t wait to try even more techniques with them!

A note from Melody…
Here is a tag I created using the Life’s A Kitchen stamp set. I used the new inks to stamp the apron and spoon. Then I used a Mini Ink Blending Foam to sponge color on Sugar Cube Cardstock to create the cake and cherry. I used the Life is a Kitchen stamp set on my second card and I love how great they are for solid rubber stamps. The ink stamps with even coverage and dries to match the coordinating card stock perfectly. I am so happy with the results!

I paired several of the inks with the Stroke of Genius and Stroke of Genius 2 stamp sets and Sugar Cube cardstock. To add color to the die-cut Little Bits – Birds and the die-cut banner from the Build a Tag 3 set, I used the new Premium Inks and a couple of brushstroke stamps. I stamped the brushstrokes onto Sugar Cube cardstock with several ink colors and then die-cut the birds and banner – I was careful to position the dies so that they cut a portion that included a bit of white. Lastly, I used Oreo Ink to stamp a sentiment from the Simply Stamped – Tulips stamp set.
We love how Courtney created this card using selective die-cutting! Clean, simple, and wonderful!

I used Bloomin’ Boots and create two cards using this fun stamp set. I wanted to do some basic stamping as well as test the new Oreo hybrid ink with Copic markers. I couldn’t be happier with the results! Initially, the colored ink stamps darker than expected, but, once dry, the coverage is smooth, even and perfectly matches the coordinating card stock! My boots did not require additional impressions for even coverage. The new Oreo hybrid ink is a very dark black, dries quickly, and works perfectly with Copic markers, showing no signs of bleeding whatsoever.

I used the ‘rock and roll’ technique, which was so easy with the new TE inks! Stamps from the Posh Posies stamp set were inked up with the lightest colors first and then the edges were “rolled” around on the darker colored ink pads. When stamped on Sugar Cube cardstock, the colors blended together seamlessly — no blotchy patches or white areas were left on the stamped images.
We love the pretty color combination Joan chose to work with on her card. Thanks, Joan, for trying out this great technique!

One of the things that is important to me about inks for cardmaking is color matching to cardstock and TE’s new inks definitely do not disappoint. They are bright, vibrant and a great match to TE’s cardstock colors. I also love to be able to sponge and blend ink colors together so that was one of the first techniques I tried out and, oh my, am I in love! Salt Water Taffy ink is definitely going to be my new go-to ink for background sponging as it blended so softly and dried so smooth.
