Blog Design Team: Let’s Soak Up Some Sun!
Hey there, crafty friends! Are you enjoying your Thursday? We hope so! If it’s hot out by where you are now that summer is in full swing, you’ll love today’s project from Blog Design Team member Cindy Lawrence! Check it out…
And now, here’s Cindy to tell us all about her project…
Ah, summer! My favorite season for so many reasons, not the least of which are beach days! I pulled out A Day in Paradise for this card, knowing I would have plenty of opportunity to use it this summer. I plan on soaking up the sun as much as possible (with the responsible use of sunscreen of course).
My card base is Sugar Cube, as are most of the layers. The layer I stamped on is X-Press It Blending Card. I stamped the image in the new Oreo Premium Hybrid Ink, which again I must say is ahMAZING! I highly recommend this ink for your alcohol ink coloring projects.
I air-brushed the sky, water, and beach background with Copic Markers. I then colored the rest of the image with Copic Markers, adding a bit of texture to the sand by “bouncing” the tip of my markers lightly all over the sand area. The sunset was hand-colored and slightly blended into the sky area.
I stamped the sentiment with Memento Nautical Blue ink, and added some pretty coordinating enamel dots to dress up the card a bit.
The “sunshine” die-cut frame was created using the Picture Perfect – Sunny Days die set. I wrapped a bit of Iiy twine around the bottom of the card to anchor the design without detracting from the focal image.
Inside the card, I simply added a couple of strips of cardstock and stamped a couple of the elements in the stamp set to enhance it a bit, yet still leaving plenty of space to write a nice note inside.
Thank you for sharing this summertime card with us today, Cindy! You can find more of Cindy’s wonderful work on her blog, The Creative Closet. Have a joyful day!
